Title: Modelrequest: Model for stunned actors
Post by: Mattn on August 22, 2010, 08:19:26 pm
We've recently add support for marking stunned actors on the battlefield with a particle hovering over the actor. What we need now is a nice model that is drawn there.

You are absolutely free and create whatever you thing would fit - it should just be a small model - the size of the actor heads maybe (it can even be animated).

Sorry, this is a request for an MD2 or a particle? Or a combination?

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

Something like this?

Its just two cones, with the smaller one spinning faster.

yes - that is looking cool

with this there is not even an animation needed imo - we can just rotate it over the head

I think part of the effect comes from it being 2 spiral models rotating at different speeds.

using model animation allow to change it without changing anithing from the code. I think about mods and more generally patch from contributors.

I think he means that it would be easier to modify, if the animation was in the model and not the code.
If someone wanted to change the model to something else, they would need to know what to modify in the code if they didnt want the new model to spin.

oh no - it's in the particle scripts - not in the code.

Origin, could you upload the model for that? If you can do md2 with animations, that's great. But if not then someone can handle the export/animation for you. I think mattn is looking for the artwork soon so that he can get the feature worked out.

it would still be better to get a not animated model for this - i would like to script this. (maybe even two models to achieve the same effect)

There you go. I included animated and static models, but I wasnt sure if I should include the transpareny texture in the alpha of the diffuse, so i just made a seperate .png.
