Hello,
I'm running UFO:AI with the latest revision, r29126, on Ubuntu 9.10. Great job!!
I've tried to use the RF (both in a campaign game and in a skirmish game) but nothing happens. I've tried what is written in this topic: http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=4431.0 (selected the round button on the fire mode and then selected the shield button) but nothing changed. My soldiers stand still on every alien turn...
Is this happening to someone else?
P.S.
The campaign game was created with r29053

Reaction fire does not work for me either, even if I choose a different firing mode. I am able to click the shield to change to singl-e or multi-fire mode.
In case it matters, I was playing with r29004 on a Windows 7 64bit system.
P.S. this is not an April Fool's joke.

I looked around the forum and found this:
add
set g_reaction_fair 0
to your autoexec.cfg in base/ of your home dir
this will change (almost) back to old system
and now please stop this here or open a new topic about this. This thread isn't about reaction fire.
I wanted to try that but I do not have that file anywhere.

So create this file in proper place (in profile dir of the game)
-
Hmmm
I created the file "autoexec.cfg" in C:\Users\Public\UFOAI-2.3-dev\base
To that file I added the line "set g_reaction_fair 0"
reaction fire still did not work.
Then I changed the line to "set g_reaction_fire 0" in case there was a spelling mistake.
No difference.
Am I doing something wrong?

I did some searching and found why rf did not seem to work:

Reaction fire is not completely broken with this version. I was playing with it and my guys did use reaction fire, though they did it rather rarely, which can easily cost you soldiers in certain situations.
It's rare enough that it may seem like it does not work at all. You could try with a later dev version, since a new one was uploaded just today. If the same behavior persists, then it may be worth a closer look.

I'm also having troubles with reaction fire, using r29222. I can set the reaction fire type and have them reserve TUs for it, but when an alien comes their way they just stand/sit there dumbfounded and die (or just waste their TUs)
Also, I'm not sure if these two events are unrelated, but when I move a character, and an alien has reaction fire he can shoot at people in his sights. Not a big deal. What is a big deal is that when he reaction-shoots my helpless 0TU guy, when ever anybody moves to come and try and save him, they get cut off by the reaction fire and stop moving. If I try to move them again the alien shoots again and stops movement. Repeat until motionless guy is dead.

This I have noticed as well. No matter who moves or where, aliens will shoot reaction fire at anyone they see, even if they can't see the other guy moving.
