I may have something similar here. After equipping my craft with something (tried Shiva rotary cannon and Fuel Pod) and reentering the base I got an assertion failure pointing to an "assert(slot)" at line 336 in cl_fightequip_callbacks.c. It doesn't happen until I put something on one of the crafts. Some info follows:
OS: Windows Vista SP1
RAM: 3 GB
CPU: Intel P4 @ 3GHz
VCard: ATI X1600 Pro (256 MB)

UFOAI Revision: r22533
File: cl_fightequip_callbacks.c
Line: 336
Expression: slot

The assertion failure occurred when entering the base (clicking on it) after assigning some equipment to a craft (happened both for the Firebird and the Saracen).
I also checked the console log and the last line (which was one of the two suspicious lines) read:
Code: [Select]
BDEF_SelectBaseSlot: Unknown airequipID: 2I don't know if this has any relevance on the subject at hand...

The other line (not likely to have any relevance here):
Code: [Select]
R_RegisterModelShort: Could not find: 'weapons/autocannon/autocannon'

Most recently, i got this

R_RegisterModelShort: Could not find: 'geoscape/defence'
Could not find model 'geoscape/defence'

for ALLOT of lines, then

No technology assigned to aircraft '(null)'

just wondering, but is anyone else having issues with some alien ships (moving units into them in the battle) or going upstairs in buildings

Oop! Heres another one!
Dropped in on some alien activity (Non-shot down UFO), and got this

Harvester ship has entrance on it's back. Going upstairs may not possible with the current pathfinding code (fix is WIP).

The problem I described previously - is it a known bug? Or should I start a new thread about it?
Thanks!

Uhg.....i thought that reporting buts was what the forum was for....but if I must, I shall

heh...just remembered I started a new game....

but what do I do with that debug_map 1 code?
Title: Re: Errors

debug_map 1 will draw boxes that shows if a cell is accessible. To activate it: Open the game console (Sh+ESC), write the command in (+<return>), and close the console by hitting ESC.

Vedrit, You might want to play with a more up-to-date build.  Since your first post I've already uploaded a new binary:

http://www.destructavator.com/public/ufoai_2_3Dev_r22529_m22519.zip

...And this link is to one with re-built maps.

I don't know if that will solve the problem or not, but from looking at the SVN logs I can tell you I have seen work being done on the ufo2map program and what I'm guessing is the part of the game that deals with this issue.

Exactly what is different with the maps with this latest binary I couldn't say - you'd have to ask the coders - and I can't guarantee this would be a fix, but it might be worth a try.  (Although your saved games might not work with the update, sorry.)

If you want to try getting an SVN copy and compiling it for the very latest version, I'm sure a number of us here can help you with that, if you get stuck following the wiki instructions.

I will upload a recent build (r22613) to megaupload and post the link in the appropriate topic. But please(!) only use it if you can't download it from Destructavator's site. Too many people downloading it may violate the terms of use (at megaupload) and I wouldn't want that.

I'm currently uploading the file and will post the link once it is done

EDIT: Upload completed, added link to it's appropriate (http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=2830.120) topic.

Saved games are generally *not* compatible between builds, at least not completely, and using a saved game from one build loaded in another can cause issues, as well as bugs from a previous build to persist or even get worse.  If you change build or game versions, you need to start a new game to minimize issues.  (Sorry!)
Title: Re: Errors
Post by: geever on February 15, 2009, 03:36:14 pm
This shouldn't be an issue of the savegame as we doesn't save battles. I can imagine some map issues btw.

Title: Re: Errors

Thats what I though, Geever. If the maps were re-made, then the saves shouldnt be an issue. I'll start a new game just in case Im wrong.

Windows XP Home SP3
UFO:AI r22773
Still having issues going into the alien dropship.

I would post a screenshot, but my computer didnt take one....thought it did.
Basically, same issue as before. Look at the past ones. Same areas of no-go

I also got

UFO_IsUFOSeenOnGeoscape: ufo install_equipment can't be used on geoscape
Shot it down, saved, and it was gone when I exited the save screen

Well, found something interesting...See the attached screenshot

Also, I was playing a mission, and got this

Mem_Free: bad memory header top sentinel [buffer underflow]
free: C:\UFOai\src\common\common.c:#1398
==== ShutdownGame ====
Wrote keys.cfg

Shutdown

And then, later, got this

Title: Re: Errors

update your checkout, (check if there are differences (svn diff)), recompile the whole workspace, and update pk3 files if you use such.

We modify things so a new binary with old scripts (or old binary&&new scripts) can cause strange issues...

I'm working on building a new installer today, but it will take a few hours to fully compile and upload it to FileFront.

Geever: When I deleted the install folder and re-installed, it worked fine (Save for the occasional crash witho no error or mesage in console log)

EDIT: Yeah, I notice that when I have lag, and I check the console, it says that things are out of sync. This is after re-instal (r22773)

Hi vedrit,

sorry for not replying this earlier. I saw this but was working on getting some things from previous versions trashed out.

Pertaining to your usage of installers.....

1) You will need to know that clean uninstallation needs to be done for every update to be effective. What i meant by this is:

a. Uninstall the old version - Goto control panel, "add and remove programs", select UFO 2.3 dev, uninstall. you may wish to try uninstalling only the data and keep the save games..... though on some occassions they do break.

b. And if u r beta testing, you might wish to track what has been changed and if its a major bug squashed or something u have feedback is solved. in this case, u will probably want to start afresh anyway and hence, might as well remove the save files.

c. Goto the directory u have installed the old version. Delete the directory manually, NSIS-compiled scripts usually do not remove it, and new installers usually picks the empty directory up and give some.... well.... not-for-concern warning. Removing the directory will prevent that warning.

2) If you are on WinXP or Vista (which i assume u r), a restart is not necessary. Do not know abt Mac and Linux (though i believe they do not need too either). Simply install the downloaded installer and bingo, u have the files in.

Hope this help.

PS: Regarding your rendering failure -> Curious what your graphics card is (hardware) and the version of the drivers installed......

You may find out from the hardware, System on Control Panel.
This might help the folks here to see and share their experience. :)

Nods.

You might want to do an auto check and update if u r not so tech savy for ur Nvidia drivers at:
Drivers Auto Update (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us)

You might want to take note that u need to enable java AND pop ups for this page.

If you know and want to select manually the drivers, goto:
