Title: 'Music'!
Post by: sai`ke on August 16, 2008, 05:08:05 am

I've been here a while ago and I've uploaded one of my ambient tracks back then (if I remember correctly). I was planning on submitting more music for this game but I think the main reason that held me back was that there seems to be no general consensus on what kind of mood you guys wish to attain with the music. I've looked at the wiki, I've looked at the FAQ and I've browsed this forum a little, but couldn't really find any clear preferred mood or genre. Also, I can't find the repository where submissions are being kept? (Maybe that's just me not looking hard enough).

I'm not sure if it is what you guys are looking for but I hereby also want to show you these ambient things (of which I reckon the mood might be suitable):

This is something more recent (warning abrupt ending):

And here is part of the soundtrack I did for another game (these can't be used by UFO:AI, but to illustrate what other styles I could do): http://www.sendspace.com/file/tb8mux

Oh also, I'm curious, who is in charge of the music for the game, in other words, who do I ask questions?

P.S. Some of the files are MP3's but I can easily encode them as OGG as well.

Well, if you're looking for consensus then the forum (or even the wiki) aren't the places to look. That said, the styles used in our music don't really adhere to a rigid theme. This is because we will take almost any music that we can get, as this is a free project. Beggars can't be choosers. Most of the time.

Fair enough. But a little clarity can actually help attract people as well.

Is there a list of stuff that's already on board anywhere?

You can check out the SVN trunk. It contains all the music we currently have.

If you do not want to install a svn client, you can browse the repo here

with a couple of clicks you can download the oggs.

Winter is the artistic director
