This seems to be a recurring problem on vista. You could try running the game with
ufo.exe +set vid_fullscreen 1
Or if that doesn't work, you can just play it windowed with the mouse grab turned on:
ufo.exe +set vid_grabmouse 1

You can call up the console and enter vid_fulscreen 1 there, but chances are that that won't work. What I meant is, you should try to start the game that way. Open up a CMD console, cd into the UFO:AI directory and enter the command as I wrote it.

i think my console control doesn't work.

programfiles/UFOAI-2.2/ufo-ded.exe   ( is it the cmd console?)

if yes this command doen't start with my vista.... (if you speak french it will be more easy to explain to me lol)

i m a really noob , i really don't know how to use console lol

sorry about that , i can understand everything but you have to consider me like a noob lol

No, no, the CMD console is part of windows. You can use it by opening your start menu, selecting "run" (well, you're French, so it's probably "le run" or something), and entering "cmd". Then you have to type "cd <path>" whre <path> is the place where you have UFO:AI, for example C:\Program Files\UFO:AI.
And then you type ufo.exe +set vid_fullscreen 1.

Alternatively you can right-click on the UFO shortcut on your desktop, click on Properties, look for the 'Target' box, and enter '+set vid_fullscreen 1' with a space and without the inverted commas, so that the Target line reads:

D:\Games\UFOAI-2.2\ufo.exe +set vid_fullscreen 1

(with D:\Games replaced with wherever you decided to store UFO)

for me (other config if you have seen my post relating to atioglxx.dll)
it crashes when I change any of:
a) fullscreen/windows
b) resolution

so the Q:
How can I specify resolution on command line?

so the Q:
How can I specify resolution on command line?

I'd be interested in the answer to this also. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I've fixed the issue with the game crashing when I tried to go to fullscreen by editing the config.cfg file at "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\UFOAI\2.2\base\" and changing the line set vid_fullscreen "0" to set vid_fullscreen "1"

But I can't seem to increase the resolution past 1024x768, i've tried changing the config.cfg settings to:

set vid_height "1024"
set vid_width "1280"

but it doesn't work :( anyone any advice?

set vid_fullscreen "1"
set vid_mode "19"                <-----
set vid_grabmouse "0"
set vid_gamma "1"
set vid_height "1920"
set vid_width "1200"

thats the way my files look and it works!

set vid_mode =  your screnn res. number

{ 1680, 1050,= 18 },
{ 1920, 1200,= 19 },
{ 1400, 1050,= 20 },
{ 1440, 900, =21 }

some times when I am playing urban terror (FPS) or other games on my linux box (it has a 64MB nvidia GPU and 1GB of ram) the games just warp out of full screen. One min I am owning noob perfectly fine, the next its kind of frozen. The game leaves full screen and becomes stuck in a small box in the top left corner of the screen. It is still running, but I cant find the mouse to click back on the window.

The only solution so far is to crtl+ald+delete (that takes me back to the login window)
then I have to restart my game, this is very frustrating

plz help
mani

oh and the computer is running ubuntu 7.10.

Eh.... wats this for?? Seemed like a forum-digged.....

No offense to anyone if I'm wrong, but I'm wondering if some of these new, off-topic posts are from spam-bots - Did you see the signatures and the URLs they link to?
