Title: Base Construction question
Post by: Radahl on July 16, 2007, 05:41:15 pm
First off, great game  :D

When I put in a new base, I noticed the game allows you to place a building next to one which is still being built.  My question is, will the new one begin construction, even though the one it is connected to, has not finished it's construction phase?

Oh, did I mention that this is a great game.
Will pass along any bugs I find, so far none.

currently you can build your base tiles everywhere you want in the base - you don't need a connection.

Thanks Mattn, think I will just play it like you cannot do it...don't want to start any bad habits.

Continuation on this, if you don't mind...

Is it possible to relocate the entrance?
During Base Raid missions, is the Radar or Alien Containment structures points of access?  I ask because they are both located near the hangars in the default base construction....

If you mean user-wise, at base view screen, then no. Should we add such functionality?

I do not understand what are you asking for.

he's asking if aliens can access the base through the radar station or the alien containment. I don't think so, they access to the base only through the main entrance I think.

I'd rather you didn't. I like the idea of having to plan your base layout in advance, instead of being able to change it around at a whim.

That is the way I prefer too, BTAxis. But the next question arise, should I popup destroy base question when one wants to destroy entrance? Or should I just disallow destroying entrance?

Yes, disallow destruction of the entrance. It's an integral part of the base's foundations. Destroying it would mean abandoning the base (something which should be possible, by the way, but not in this fashion).

Ok, not possible to remove entrance in current trunk.

If a second entrance is built, I wouldn't mind if one of them gets removed.

You can't build a second entrance.

You can't build a second entrance.
I guess, it wouldn't be too hard to change that.
And it would allow a bit of flexibility, without cheating.

I prefer it the way it is.

Hi!

Just a question with buildings. There are more buildings than I am able to build. I mean, there's no place for all sort of buildings on a base, when I want an usable amount of them (living quarters at least two... storage two... etc). I guess there will be even more avaiable buildings later in the game. Will this thing change? I'm not bothered of this, I'm just asking.

Thanks,
c.

You can specialize your bases. You do not need 2-3 labs or workshops in every base. You can transfer stuff. And I do not think you will need a containment for aliens in every base either. In the current version you should have enough money to simply build a new base if you are running out of capacities. For example you can locate a base with dropship in southern europe to cover europe and africa and then build a research base in africa with a little defence and production capacity and a containment facility and without a hangar.

Yes, I know, thanks, I was just asking. I work better with universal bases :)

Sorry if I am dense, but how do you build another base? I can't see the command anywhere and clicking or double clicking on the map doesn't do a thing. I am using the Mac version, BTW.
Thanks for all help

Bottom left hand corner, you will see a "Box" with 3 tabs on it, one of them being a create base tag.

The tags have no labels on them: must be the same reason that prevents any text showing up in the intro and in the messages and ufopedia researche I guess then. Thank you.
