I use 1280x800 resolution on my VAIO's notebook, but i play only at 1024x768. Do you have any patch to enlarge the resolution?
P.S. Your game is really amazing. thanks for great job!

1440x900 if I remember correctly (widescreen) would be cool. (Toshiba Satellite - I'm not sure about the resolution)

Perhaps it will be useful to add notebook's high resolution like 1900x1200 too :)

start the game with +set gl_mode 17 :) or try /set gl_mode 17 in the in-game console

This would be very useful - especially since screen resolutions vary widely if using a linux distro. I mean, theres so many devices that it runs on that more screen resolutions are a vital neccessity.
Perhaps it is possible to make the UFO AI executable with parameters that allow the user to set his own custom width:height and just add some default options into the game settings screen (most common ones, else it takes too much screen space),
