Hello guys, I like your project very much and I would like to help you with music and sounds if you need some help!
For instance, I can produce one mission song and put it for download here on forum, and if you like it you're very wellcome to put it in next release?
ok?
Agreed?
ps. current music is very, very good, so my possible task will be hard :) but it's chalange for me!
-
New music would be greatly appreciated. I think it is crucial for creating the right gaming atmospherics, and good music is hard to find! If you have done something please post it here (or contact mattn and he can host it on the web-site).
If you do contribute music you will have to decide on a license that suits you (e.g. GPL is the most compatible license for the game, but you may choose to use a creative commons license or even a custom one).
Can't wait to hear your musical interpreation of UFO:AI :D

Great!
this is my first movie-atmospheric music try and my first idea for UFO AI

Don't give up on me if you really don't like it, it's just first step :) I need your feedback to trace my future work :)
this track I can publish as GPL,
but I have some other song, comphosed for my future album that I would like to give you for game but I would like to hold rights on it.
check:

this song is at very begining phase and stil is underconstruction,
a candidate for my future album, but could be incorporated in game if you like it.
Hope you like it!
Comments are very welcome :)

thanks, i will check your music
could you please reencode your tracks into the ogg format?
but I have some other song, comphosed for my future album that I would like to give you for game but I would like to hold rights on it.
you can even hold rights when releasing it under GPL or CC2. It's not public domain

Thanks on licence advice, the last thing is how to arrange licence, for me it's most important to hear from you your impressions.
I'm sending another song, also from my new album:
http://www.omnetwork.net/desertsofgods.mp3
Desert of Gods
don't worry about OGG, I'll deencode tracks that you like,
just mark which may pass.
Can't wait to hear feedback from you!

i get a 404 - fie not found for your last link, sorry
-
Wow, your stuff is very impressive.
The ufoai_missiontrack01 composition is shaping up really well.. I really like the reverberating waxing and waning alien sounding harmonies and the way you have managed to mesh it altogether so seamlessly. Definitely sets a really great atmosphere. I think it would suit a mission set it Africa somewhere.
I like the dynamic start of the Suns of Another World track and the drums sound very sweet. One thing I didn't like so much as the song progressed though was the electronic tone which is used through a large part of the piece. Initially its rhythm works reasonably well but I think it gets a bit too prominent and a bit too monotonous eventually, even though the rhythm does speed up nearer the end. Maybe this particular tone could be made to have more texture or perhaps you could vary the note here or there... I'm not sure (take all this with a grain of salt, I'm not a musician, these are just my thoughts). The track overall has more of an action feeling and this is something we definitely need more of in the game (melodic atmospheric music is great, but if some fast paced sequences can be built in as well, that can help build tension).
Looking forward to hearing more, and feel free to experiment and push the music in whatever direction you want.

Thanks!
Suns of Another world is not yet finished, an your sugestions are very usefull for future work, and you're right.
Desert of Gods link is prepared, so please, taste it :)
if all of you like it, you may instantly use ufoai_missiontrack01.mp3...
I'll post .ogg link asap.
See you!
-
I'm really looking forward to hear your tracks in game.
btw. what is the status of the track-reencoding or the ogg?
-
Hello I've just finished second track for mission.
ogg files:
http://www.omnetwork.net/ufoai_hardy_mission01.ogg
http://www.omnetwork.net/ufoai_hardy_mission02.ogg
second track is 1:30... first about 2 mins
I don't know which length do you preffer?
I wanted to minimize package bandwidth... but if you think that longer songs could be more interesting, just say.
tell me if thouse two are good enought to be included in next release!
See you!
-
Both tracks sound great and would easily make it into the next release :)
For Battlescape mission music it would be preferred if the tracks could be slightly longer, as the track loops so shorter tracks can tend to become boring eventually. Still I'm keen on both tracks even at their current length.
PS: have you decided on a license for these tracks?
-
i really like your tracks, too
but i think the first track ends a little abrupt
-
Thouse two tracks are made for this game so they can carry licence same as game :)
I agree about first track and I'll adjust it little, also second will be longer, and you can except 3rd soon :)
I'm glad that you like it. I'm trying to make it more "action sound" but it's always, at end, becomes more ambient and chilly :)
so third should be action-style ...
When are you planning 2.1 ? (or however next release will be numbered)
-
the release of 2.1 is currently unclear - we are trying to release as often as possible... sorry, that's all we can say atm
