[Important questions have been underlined.]
So I'm making a Let's Play UFO: Alien invasion v2.5 series (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8z5KevvdJP1cN5ePFe_HMgXQGsH8Nc5G) and in the third video:

at 27:30 (http://youtu.be/00CnV8FDhn4?t=27m30s), my sniper didn't fire. I grew confused and searched the forums. I came upon this very helpful post by ShipIt:

So as I understand it, if the reaction fire of a sniper costs 20 TUs, the aliens can basically do a waltz (5 TUs), conduct the Imperial March (10 TUs), and then do a pirouette (6 TUs) before my sniper can fire?
Joke aside though, do the aliens have to consume more than (or equal? please confirm) 20 TUs in front of my sniper (that is, my sniper can see them) before he gets to fire his reaction shot?
If yes, then that's reaction fire explained and I've nailed how the system works.
If not, could someone please explain it? So far in the searches I've made only ShipIt's explanation is clear as day.
Also, how do I set which firemode the soldiers use as their reaction fire? The same button I use for firemode on my turn? Please confirm this. Thanks!

Yes, it is. Your sniper must wait the alien uses 20 TU in order to react.
But you have two type of reaction fire; snap shot and precision shot. Use snap shot for reaction fire.
Remember: TU is equal to time taken for any action. If you have an sniper waiting for a shot, but target isn´t sights, the guy will take some time to aim and shot.

Thanks for the confirmation!
What about this:

I remember this (http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php/topic,7866.msg60060.html#msg60060) post. It may lead you to even more usefull information.

So it is not just "strictly greater" but "greater or equal to" ?
I was asking the same here: http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php/topic,8667.0.html

This (http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7597.0;attach=9356;image) explains A LOT. Thanks ShipIt!
One last bit: Anonymissimus'
