Title: Difference between campaigns

I just started playing again, after a few years break, and I'm wondering what the difference between the two campaign types is (simple / standard). I'm playing the 2.5 snapshots, and I haven't found any description of this so far. The ingame text seems to be the same for both.

I searched for "campaign", "differences", "standard" and "simple", but there were quite a lot of results. I guess I missed the relevant one :).
