Encased plasma ammo has a market value of nil, and it cannot be bought. Can be sold though.
I was told in some thread here that new phalanx-developed technologies would not appear in the market untill the player had sold some, but that is not the case - is that a bug or just bad info?
playing 2nd jan. version.

I think it's a bug/oversight, nobody put that value in yet.
However this wouldn't be a tech the market can replicate as it relies on alien materials. I don't think they can copy those.
On the bright side this means that construct value and market value are not the same. I've been hoping to see a better handling of construction prices and being able to adjust by actual materials and time is better than a flat discount.

I'll add that that researched items that have never been sold, and items that have never even been manufactured (by the player), appear in the market. Is this supposed to happen? I thought player first needed to "release" an item into the market, before it could become available for purchase.

Maybe I was wrong. I had heard this was how the behavoir worked because it was mentioned. On the other hand you may be seeing a bug.
I do recall someone saying they wanted an option to keep tech secret so you are probably not alone in seeing this.

The other day I checked the plasma ammos and none of them had 0 price. Which exact item you are referring to?
Are you still using weeks old builds?

3 days old.
All plasma ammo has a reasonable build costs but sells for 0 and can't be bought back.

From the scripts it doesn't look like that:
item encased_plasma_assault_ammo
{
....
price 1500
....
}
Which means:
buy: 1500
sell: 1350
produce: 1500
Could you upload a save?

Damn. I hoped this meant they had a seperate build and sell price and someone forgot to set one.

They could have different produce cost which defaults to the buy price if not set.

That seems good. I was thinking when I saw this it would be nice to adjust the cost by the time needed and antimatter and alien materials instead of adding a flat discount to production.
