Title: City+ bug is back, soldiers can't leave dropship
Post by: kurja on May 02, 2012, 02:10:23 pm
I recall we had this one in 2.3, and there was a patch for it. Now it's back in 2.4, should we just run the same patch again?

I dropped in the same patch as used with 2.3, and it seems to fix the issue.

-- edit - we're talking about the linux version here.

There is no +city map in v2.4.

Interesting. I ran the usual apt-get update procedure which updated ufoai as well, and noticing that, I went ahead to see what's changed and it certainly looks different, and my old savegames are gone as well. But now that I checked, it does say "ver 2.3.1".

Interesting^2.

uninstalled/reinstalled completely, now it says v 2.4 as expected.

the update clitch was really weird all the same. I suppose ufoai was not meant to be upgraded like that in the first place?

Well we havnt released any 2.3.1 -> 2.4 Update. 2.4 is a major release which needs a clean install. Installing a major release over an old one is always a bad idea.

Apparently so, but consider an "end user" who got the game from a repository - they had the previous version, and once 2.4 came available it automagically updated into a not-so-well-working mishmash of the two versions. Highly confusing and inconvenient.

Not that this would be a priority issue. 2.4 seems really awesome btw.
