Title: New Tech Tree diagram
Post by: Eklinaar on December 23, 2010, 03:35:10 am
Hey everybody.  I noticed that the old tech tree image floating around was pretty old and out of date.  I'm working on a new one.  It's not quite complete so far, as I'm not totally sure how the newer endgame techs work yet.  I'd appreciate all feedback, suggestions, and corrections, particularly on the layout.  This one will only contain techs that are currently in the game.  I'd be willing to make a dev version if requested, though, really, it's pretty easy to make these.

very cool - keep in mind that we have a script for this - it's called ufo2dot.pl and is in src/tools

I've made a tool to list all the techs and requirements. Use it if you wish.

Merry Xmas, I've made an improved version of the tool, it really consumed my several hours on this holiday.

is the source for this available?
I usually don't keep anything if it is just for fun, so don't bother with this kiddie's toy. Sometimes, I am anxious about making the same serious mistake continuously in my life.

please share the source and release it under gpl - not everyone here has windows

I consider this is not a good piece for share because:
1) It was coded in Delphi, which was not crossplatform compatible.
2) It was a quick and dirty program, not really friendly for others.
3) I am also selfish for some odd reasons that I won't share something that I don't want to share.

The final and most important reason above these points is, unless it is in C family, I will never release the source. At least till now, I don't see it is really useful to the project.

if it's not useful to the project, why do you share the binary?

It is somewhat like the tech tree diagram to help others understand and do it more efficiently.

Celebration to good new year! I've revised the tool to a final version. Hope that it's helpful to you.
