hey guys!
my soldiers are stuck in the aircraft in the city map
even after updating my 2.3 stable to 2.3 1288002986.

Hi Kuertee. Are you talking about the Raptor? If it matches this (http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=5532.0), it's already been fixed in trunk.

but my soldiers are inside the dropship.
and i only bring 3 or 4 at a time.
with this image, notice that the cursor is not a box.
i think this indicates that the cursor is on a space soldiers can't move through.

i think this indicates that the soldier cannot at this time move to that space - because it is blocked or out-of-range.

in both, notice that the cursor is actually in spaces that soldiers can move through.

Shit. This has just gone out in 2.3.1 and affects ALL dropships on the map. I think this is because when the latest maps were pulled to 2.3 they included the rescue zone trigger brushes which 2.3 does not know how to handle.

We've got fixes set up for those maps now and will be releasing a patch to 2.3.1 soon. Thanks for reporting.

Thanks Mattn! The fix worked for me too.
EDIT: Have you guys implemented Mattn's fix into the current installer? The bug that it squashed is definitely game-breaking and may discourage some.

I'm kind of surprised my last question hasn't been answered. Not meaning to nag but I just saw another "actors not moving in big city" thread pop up.
I strongly suggest Mattn's hotfix to be integrated into the 2.3.1 installer (if it hasn't been already).

Thanks for the fix. I stopped playing after I got stuck, and just today remembered how much I wanted to keep on playing. This is awesome. One question, tho: when you say 'copy this to your base dir', do you mean the installation dir (\UFO2.3.1) or the BASE directory inside the installation one (\UFO2.3.1\base) ??

No, the full path depends on where you installed the game. Wherever you installed the game, take that as the /ufoai-2.3/ directory. Then it's /where-your-game-is/base/1maps.pk3.
If you're on Windows, it is most likely C:\Program Files\UFOAI-2.3\base\1maps.pk3, but it may not be.

Game hangs up with this patch on Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit.

Game crashes after the patch. Only happens on the City map. It loads (takes awhile tho), then i can see interface bit the map itself is black and everything frozen including music that just loops. console says:
Mem_Alloc: failed on allocation of '3145792' bytes
alloc: D:\ufoai\src\client\battlescape\cl_actor.c:#381
any way I can fix that? or do I pray for the next one. Cheers

How much RAM do you have?

I'm on the old as laptop so 512 (yea yea you can laugh)
I thought that might be the problem, but its only certain maps i have problem with (just had the same problem with LA as well)
Well I just moved to another country and haven't got a job yet, so my old lappy is all i have. That means more RAM is not an option. Any other way I can avoid this problem?

Turn off/down as many graphics settings as you can. Especially things like realtime lighting. City is the most graphically demanding map at the moment.

i looked in my base dir and didnt see a 1maps.pk3 but i have a 0maps.pk3 does it matter or do i need to rename the 1maps.pk3

After downloading 1maps.pk3 and placing it into the folder, you should have both 0maps.pk3 AND 1maps.pk3. Any fiiles in the second pk3 will overwrite those in the first.

G'day guys..
running winxp, 3.5gig ram, nvidia 9800gtx 512
vid setting on normal with everything unchecked, auto ratio
ive installed the patch .pk3 to D:\Program Files\UFOAI-2.3.1\base
Now i constantly crash in fullscreen. tried everything i can to fix it.. windowed, the patch did the job i can move the men out of the dropship, just not fullscreen

Update, issue fixed, it forced me to select 16:9 .. auto ratio wasnt allowing fullscreen for some reason

Hi there.
I'm using the UFO:Alien invasion on Mac OS and recently I had this bug on a campaign mission (+city). I downloaded the patch and copied it to UFOAI/base/ (on the same dir as the 0maps.pk3).
I run the UFOAI and tried the +city small and +city medium on a skirmish game.
I've obtained the the following result:
+city medium:
The problem seems to continue. I can't select a unit (from 1 to 7) using mouse (only using keys), and I can't move them.

The problem was partially solved. I can select a unit using mouse, the cursor turns green when I try to move it to some place nearby, but when I click on the mouse to actually move him, nothing happens. (See the next image, where the units' feet are now on the top of the ship, and not inside the ship as the previous image).

Any thoughts on how to solve this?

My guess is that the patch is not being read. Do you have only pk3 folders in /base/ or do you have a subfolder /maps/?
Other possibility: do you have multiple versions of the game installed and maybe you're playing a different version than the one where you placed the 1maps.pk3?

I don't have a subfolder maps.
I have a directory called i18n inside the base, along with every pk3 file and a game.dylib. To confirm if it is being read, I can erase both (1maps and 0maps) and the game should crash or give some sign that something is wrong right? I did that and after I choose a map, the game went all black and didn't start the skirmish game. That ensures that the game is reading the 0maps.pk3 that I erased.
Furthermore, I put back the 1maps.pk3 and the game didn't work on the +city. And If I put back the both, the game loads +city but the units error continues to exist.
I won't mind having the error, unless every time I run the campaign I lose 8 men to abort the mission (or try to be a rambo with the 8th).
The other possibility is not possible, I open content and open the game on the same icon, on ~/Applications, which is unique. This possibility is too discarded because the test I just made.

Please next time use jpg for screenshot like that, and reduce the image size (2MB is very big) or thumb it.

Hmm, then I have no ideas. I can only say confirm that the patch has worked for me and many other people. Perhaps you're the first Mac user to try it? I wouldn't think that would be the problem but I don't know Macs at all.
Also, there will be no difference between +city small and +city medium. Both use the same BSP file for the firebird dropship. It's possible the differences you see are unrelated to the BSP file, though I wouldn't know what it would be.
