Here are some gifs of the new explosions. Because screenshots and pictures are not the best way to show the new particle effects i decided to make small gifs to show off the new effects. Be warned - the gifs haves a average size of 1,5 mb. So it may take a while if you dont have a fast internet connection.

Looks really good. Finally got to try out 2.4 today and the new sounds and effects are all awesome :D

Yeah Crystan, the new effects look good. I don't know anything about how those particle effects are created, so this could be off base, but I really like the grey smoke that comes out of the explosions. Would it be possible to put dark rather than bright spots on the front of those? I'm think that in explosions there is usually hte initial fireball, but debris is often not on fire when it shoots out. Not sure if that's possible or even if it would look good. Just a thought on my part.

If you think u can create some video in OGG or to push some video on YouTube, i think i can work to play it embedded to the wiki. For example for news. You lose a lot of quality in GIF, cause it use indexed color.

Its relative easy to create ptl effects. You just have to go a bit through the material. Sadly there some things are missing or ill conceived like you cannot force non-weapon-bullet-ptls to point into direction it flys/moves or the actor faces. Oh and yes its realy easy to remove the fire. :)

Thx - and these are still outdated (like the current laser sounds - have some awesome laser&plasma sounds). Gonna upload them as soon as i overwhelm my self and set up GIT... ;)

This fire does look good, but...
Isn't it the exact same one you posted on Oct 6th?

The link is exactly the same;
I suppose maybe you replaced the old file with a new one, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Also - BTW - is this fire caused by any weapon(s), or used exclusively in map building (e.g. for crashed UFOs)?

I have a particle request: I'd like a particle that I could use for when glass breaks. I'm thinking just something that sends out grey bits everywhere. I could use this in the new alienbase and turn the glass windows into func_breackables.

it looks like those are a lot of child particles... please keep in mind that they are maybe not very cheap to calculate ;)

It just looks as the lighting under the projectile would just work for the first shot, so maybe we should use that effect for some slower-repetition-shots !?

Well its not just the first shot. Sometimes the DynLight works and often not. If you look closer its not even working 100% (the smooth out effect is missing).

Ive upgraded the explosions. Theyre now "larger". This is the last explosion of a burst in case someone wonders about the many bruning fragments flying around.
