Title: How to stay up to date - a newbies adventure
Post by: Saracan on May 20, 2010, 07:49:59 pm
Hi there,

I have been playing 2.2.1 some time ago and just recently I started again. However, I want to try the 2.3 version, as the changes seem nice and interesting. But I am confused; how do I stqay up to date? There are installers and binaries available, I have seen that. And, sorry for asking this, what are the main differences? Well, the installer just installs the game while the bin has be to compiled, a term I have heard of but never done it myself. So far at least. If I grasped that right, the binaries allow me to modify the code myself; however, I don't know much about coding, so having that option does not mean much to me. So can I just grab the latest installer and go for it, or are there other advantages?

Second, on updating. Can I just install the newest version over the existing game, or do I have to install them seperately? I guess there are more updates for the binaries then for the installers?

Thanks for answers

Talk a look at http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Download
Some people provide precompiled installers.

You must install it separately.
