Title: New forum skin
Post by: bayo on April 25, 2010, 07:17:07 am
Hello.

I rework the forum skin to have somethng cleaner (especially to remove all yellow borders). If some people want to go back to the old one, they can do it with the "Look and Layout Preferences" page inside the "Profil" page. The current one is "UFO:AI 2.x", the old one is "1.x"

If there is any problems with the new one, please reply, i hope i can fix little things.

Thanks

hm... i like it.. but u must have a very big screen (i have just 22" wide).
i like it much more compact. easier to read and less to scroll.
padding or margin too big i mean.

edit: - also huge gap btw. header and maintext
- u cant reach home from download (link)
- u cant reach contact from about (link)
- in download it should be told, that 2.2.1 is VERY old
edit2:
- new photos to the gallery would be nice. take some from mcr out of the forum :)
- why so much space btw. this text and "« Last Edit:...» "
edit3:
and i forgot to mention: great forum-picture u have :)

Maybe we can reduce a little the padding for messages (this current screen). But i dont think there is a lot of space to reduce. But this version of SMF is not very easy to custom, then not sure it is possible without broking another page.

Screenshot is welcome, i am not sure i understand everything you point.

I will reskin the gallery too. But you are right, it need more work. I think we should first sort images by game version, and sure then we can add up 2 date images. I must ask devs.

I also like the ongoing changes here very much, thanks for the tuning here...  :)

It would be great if the link 'View the most recent posts on the forum.' could be somewhere on top also... ;)

There is quite some place @ the top (because of the height of the logo), maybe there could even be additional useful links & info added there... ?

Do you talk about "new posts"? on your personal links (on top)?

No.
About the 'most recent posts on the forum', which you can normally find only on the main page @ the bottom where it says: UFO:AI Info Center...
This information (or part of it) could also be useful to have somewhere on top...

That why a screenshot is usefull. I dont have IE, and i dont check all browsers and versions, it can be a browser bug. Sometime we can fix it with some specifics styles. But i must know where to should search.

Both IE 7 & 8 dont work?

Post by: Bartleby on April 29, 2010, 07:05:10 am
yes. from download to home and from about to contact dont work in ie7 + ie8 (no link, not yellow). rest of the navigation works and gets also yellow with hover.

edit: windows 7, 64bit
edit2: screen forum with 1440*900 (would like to know how it should look btw. how it looks on linux)

Is it possible to change the color of links in News on the main page (http://ufoai.sourceforge.net/?page=Home (http://ufoai.sourceforge.net/?page=Home))? Because i cant really read it. blue on grey isnt the best combination.

They're orange for me.

The links are orange for me as well. If you have some problem loading the forum properly, then they show up blue, as happened to me when my connection timed out for a moment. If that happens consistently, there is some other problem with your machine, Ain Soph Aur.

It can be a temporary problem with the loading of the css files. Force the refresh. Else, what browser do you use, and what version?

I think the blue color is the default hyperlink color in a lot of browsers. So if the style sheet (or whatever) isn't loaded completely, they might not be colored orange.

Ok, they are orange now :)
Im using ChromePlus 1.3.9.0

Now the download page come from the wiki (then it is another css style). Is there again problem to click on "Home" with IE?
