Title: Weather effects
Post by: gugand on October 27, 2009, 05:52:23 pm
I see the the graphic option "weather effect", but i have never see rain or other effects. This feature will be introduce in future releases?
If so I think weather should be not only a graphic effect, but it should affect gameplay.
Storms (of snow or sand) and fog should shorten soldiers visual range.
Rain (as snow i think) should affect the movement speeds on earthy grounds.
Extreme temperature (very high and very low) should affect some weapon efficency (ex: lasers suffer high temperature cause low heat dissipation) and/or affect soldiers status (loss of action points and or loss of precision).
Strong wind (so the storm) affect bullets trajectory so weapon as sniper shotgun have a precision malus on long distance.
And so on.

PS:sorry for my english, i hope what i write is understable.

I did not find the maps where it is snowing  ::)
Could someone tell me which maps have weather effects built-in & how to activate this !?

Thanx a lot once again, mattn !!!
Looking forward to testing it, normally I do not like bad weather, but in this case it is an exception...

Hey !
Just a little feedback:
Tested 2.3dev-rev28889 & it is snowing on the frozen-maps  ;D
The particles look great, IMHO this is a great improvement in terms of great optics, atmosphere & variety of the maps !
I just wonder how this great feature got lost  !?
But that's not important anymore, cause WeatherFX are back in the game, all thumbs up !!!
