Title: Strafing Runs
Post by: SonofAres800 on September 26, 2009, 01:35:15 pm
Hi guys, UFO:AI is the best turn-based strategy game i have ever played (currently playin 2.2)

I was readin da UFOpedia on the TR-20 rocket launchers and it made me think about the possibility of allowing specific fighters to use these things for strafing runs on particular parts of a map. This would coincide with another guys idea about fighter escorts (thanks to whoever you are, would fix up a big pain in the backside) and the fighters would unload their payload on a that part of the map.

To target these, maybe a soldier would have to carry a flare and wait 1 or 2 turns before all hell rains loose.

Just an idea and i realise how hard it would to create animaitions for this, but it would add another feature used in modern warfare.

If you're talking about air-strikes or dropping bombs and such, this has already been proposed and vetoed in the past, at least for the official standard campaign.

As far as I know there are plans for alternate campaigns for single-player, in addition to the standard main game, or at least there are plans to have the game capable of running alternate campaigns.

We also have a section here for modding and such.
