Title: Question Regarding the Look of 2084

I was wondering why everything looks very much like it comes from the late 20th/early 21st century. There isn't really any evidence of a technological progression except in Phalanx.

Because that's how people made it look. A lot of the content was made long befor the 2084 setting was written up.

and its the yeer 2009 right now.  I can hop in a vehicle and drive an hour and be in a place that looks like the year 1409...
