I just tried out SVN checkout # 16128 and seemed to have discovered an "off by one" bug somewhere. I started a new campaign, and there are eight soldiers in the barracks. Strangely, only seven of them are ticked - i am not able to add the eighth without removing a currently selected soldier. The Firebird steadfastly shows "8 of 8", but when i go to the equipment screen there are only seven soldiers there. What further debugging would help?

Maybe eighth is a pilot? :-)

I'm not paying a pilot to sit around and play solitaire while my brave soldiers are out in the elements! They're going to grab their weapon and help beat the bushes!!

Speaking of samurai, any chance we could have samurai swords made with alien manufacturing technology for our soldiers? The Kerr Blade is not easily used by agents, but a totally AWEsome samurai sword with similar sharpness would be just the best thing ever. I realize it's a bit of a fantasy, but a combat knife isn't going to "cut it" against the kerr blade. Is it wrong for me to suggest such a thing? I would absolutely flip if my agents could carry a katana (samurai sword) as their melee weapon.

There will 100% guaranteed not be a katana in the stock game, though you could mod it in if you could find (or make) a MD2 model for it. There is a kerrblade-based, human made monomolecular blade weapon though.
