Title: white screen while trying to start the game

first of all, i'd like to say thank you for bringing back my favorite game of all time back to life.
now i have this problem, when i start the game it just gives me a white screen on the geospace.
i can build a base, and i can look inside the base. 
i working on windows xp professional edition
and i do not know what graphic card i have.

have a look at the ufoconsole.log which is stored in your application data to get the gfx card infos. (or open the game console and scroll up to the video initialization)

also try to reduce the texture resolution in the video options - or try to activate texture compression

nope. still geospace in white, base looks normal.
my gfx card is via/s3g unichrome pro igp, if it matters.
also every time i try and exit the game, it crashes my pc.
connection between the two?
