Thanks, I guess?

To be honest, I based the particle accelerator at the bottom on PB rifle magasine.

Photo you found looks similar to bottom design because they both are drawn as blueprints =) On the technical side, bubble chamber is usually used as particle detector, while particle accelerator accelerates particles and sets them on collision course. So they are different tools, but both are used in research.

Hello again. I have something for you: Particle Beam Weapons tech image along with its source.

Used stock image: diagram at the top (public domain).

I have not used patterned background this time, so it may seem dull and featureless compared to other tech images.

As always, feedback is welcome.

FAQ / Re: GETdeb and PLAYdeb are left for good. Any replacement?

TroubleMaker, if you are linux user (like I am), be a man and compile your own game. The manual is quite thorough and with some clever application of cron you get to always have the latest version.

How about a compromise? Half organic, half plastic/metal, like this one.

I agree with Sims - that would look great as a human scout drone. Quadrocopters already exist, and by 2084 they will only get better. Give it 40 AP, paper-thin armor, no weapons of any kind, robotic equivalent of IR goggles and price of about 5000 and you have efficient, cheap and plausible robo-scout.

Does the engine allow flying units? Like, could this copter fly in a cell directly above soldier?

Hello. I was going to present it as a new year gift, but got off schedule. My only excuse is that internets are slow here. Here's a tech image for Alien Detection(source). Separate sources for panels: top, middle, bottom, side.

List of references to used stock images can be found here. One of them is CC-BY-SA 3.0, others are taken from game files, so i guess they should be license-compatible =)

As always, feedback is welcome.

I must admit I have no experience with 3d editors and was going just to slap logo over some existing render (as soon as i found time to do it). You've got ahead of me. Thanks.

I like the first with the spear style of the 2nd.
Here is something for you to take look at.

Anyway, the decision what simplified logo to use and to use it at all is up to lead devs and artists. Judging by their activity in this thread so far, I don't think that phalanx soldiers will receive new armbadge =)

Feature Requests / Re: Alien base defended by UFOs
« on: December 16, 2012, 09:53:57 pm »
The base won't be detected if aliens launch interceptors from carrier on the orbit. This would look like some pilots got bored and came down to shoot up some human aircraft. As for increased response time... aliens could use their superior sensors and computers to detect and predict which aircraft will fly too close in advance and take it out before it enters base vicinity, probably causing some collateral damage. Again, this would look like random attack to humans (pefrectly normal alien behaviour).

Well, luckily for us, there are a lot of ancient pictograms for "earth". I wandered around wikipedia a bit and found out that medieval alchemists used some sybmol for earth as well. This one was originally devised by ancient greeks and represents earth not as celestial body, but as basic element. Ah well. Anyways, I have removed the cross and put the triangle in the circle. Also repositioned spears a bit.

So, i've done some googling, and here's what I found.

Apparently, what Koba refers to is Celtic Cross, which is indeed used as a neo-nazi symbol in Italy and a bit in Germany. You may note that Celtic Cross has fins on top, left, bottom and right, while logo I proposed has them on top left, bottom left, top right and bottom right. So they are similar, yes, but in my opinion not similar enough to confuse with each other.
