Title: Human Head, Very First Attempt...
Post by: Destructavator on May 31, 2009, 03:26:32 pm
Thought the new soldier models could use matching heads, and I'd try to make one - This is the first time I've ever tried such a thing, and it shows, I don't think it is coming out too good.

The base model I started with looked fantastic, but had a poly count of several thousand, way too much detail.  This one has a vertex count of about 300 or so, but if I start to add features and detail it starts to really go up again.

If anyone else here is good with making heads and wants to step in and offer some models, now would be a good time.

we can reuse existing one, no?

Possibly - the bare heads without helmets would probably work OK, but the armored heads might not match up very well, I don't know.

I suppose I could grab existing bare heads from the data source, then add newer helmets and headgear to them, or at least try to do so...

yes - that would be easier for you

also your head is a little bit high poly, no? or no, high poly is not the term that descibes it - it seams to have a lot of unneccessary polygons ;)

OK, I attempted to base a new head model off of one of the old heads - Getting the old face texture to line up on the face was quite a b**** to get close to coming out right, and it still didn't come out very well...   ::)   If I'm going to continue on this path, I've got a long ways to go.

I tried to attach a screenshot, but I got a forum error that "The Uploader Is Full."
