Windows / Re: Graphic video problems: the word is in darkness
« on: June 02, 2010, 02:36:27 am »
i tried making a new install and creating a save game, unistalling except for save game and reinstallling

but it still suffers from the mini screen problem

do you know where the save game file is
if i can't fix i might try a manual copy and paste of the save game when uniostall/install see if that helps
arghh so painful

destructavator uploaded a new version try it out: http://www.destructavator.com/92dl/ufoai/ufoai_2_3_r30221.exe
the savegames located in: i dont know lol :)
possible you need microsoft visual c++ 2005 and 2010 redistributable version.

and dont forget to tell me if you can see the reflections from that damn rocket :)

Good luck

I’m using this install  release version
http://www.destructavator.com/92dl/ufoai/ufoai_2_3_win32_r30111.exe
1. when I try to turn off full screen the game shinks way to much even when mine is set to 800x600
2. When I change programs and come back the gaming screen pixels are distorted
Even after I exit the game and return it still got this weird low graphic pixel problem and requires an unsitall, install
The first 2 I can deal with
3. When I start the campaign the geoscape is just a black screen I can’t see anything
I tried placing a base then coming back but still just black

You use nvidia or ati graphic-card? maybe update driver.
Disable shaders in video settings could help, if you got a older card.
you using xp or vista/windows7? try compatible mode for xp if you got vista/windows7

You can also increase "Swap interval" and "Anisotropy level".

i cant increase "swap interval" cause its bugged with nvidia cards maybe... watch this.
http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=4852.msg38827#msg38827

btw. any other got the same bug (no light reflections) with the 30111 version from Destructavator?

No, I use default map-building parameters, and since I have a newer machine with a fast i7 CPU it goes rather quickly already.  I'm wondering if you found a bug - Please post a screenshot if you can reproduce the issue, but in a separate forum thread.  I've been busy the last week and haven't had time to actually fire up the game, but if I can later I'll try to reproduce this problem.

possible this isnt a bug, i think that your maps not compiled with lightning effects. Please can you clean all maps and compile them again    ( cause you got the i7 CPU :D ) for the next installer?

If you want more information watch this: http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=4864.msg38941#msg38941

Dont forget to remove the clean switch next time
or you will recompile all maps again!

Im use currently the win32 installer from Destructavator and im asked him already about that ( http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=2830.msg38926#msg38926 ), im give up on svn cause i dont want to convert my partitions on NTFS.

if anyone post a screenshot from his video settings with the best possible quality settings would help me or just tell me what i have to change for a better look.

here are my currently settings:

Hi all, i need help with my video settings in game, cause i dont see no dynamic lights or light reflections from textures... im play the 2.3beta rev30111, i found a video where a guy shoot a rocket across the whole map ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6k9pR3sRv8&feature=related ) and it looks awesome... but if im play this game it looks worst. :D
i dont know what i did wrong... i try to set all settings most high as possible but alot settings are confused, maybe someone post a screenshot for me with the best quality settings for video options please.

Your partition seems to be fat32 and not NTFS right?!
All those nice pk3 files where not build because im using Hardlinks (i knew this day would come ;) )

http://www.destructavator.com/92dl/ufoai/ufoai_2_3_win32_r30111.exe

RELEASE version.

Thanks for the upload Destructavator. Whensoever you create the installer you compile the maps fast (no light compile)? cause i dont see any reflections on the textures if im shoot with weapons across the map.

Windows / Re: make_UfoAI_win32 (all in one win32 build script)
« on: May 24, 2010, 03:07:30 am »
hello i got some questions about the script. It is for me the first time that im compile the game from source, i did set all settings right in the interface, im read that i have to use map optimized enable to play the game.. so im deselected "clear" (rebuild all maps) and "fast" (no lightning)... and now the map compile (lighning) need really long to calculate, there are 505maps and im at 460maps now after 4hours. my question is now: i have to do this everytime again if im compile the game for new revision or just at ones? and is the ingame look much different from "fast" map compiling (no lightning)?

btw i think im download version 2.4 now, but i want to download 2.3. i couldnt choose the version did i something wrong?

If you restarted the game before copying the ufoconsole.log, the crash information was lost because restarting the game overwrites the previous log. It looks like that happened here, since I can't find any crash info in the file. That's why it's important to copy any crash logs to a separate file to preserve them.
maybe this is the error? :
0(35) : error C5041: cannot locate suitable resource to bind parameter "<null atom>"
0(35) : error C5041: cannot locate suitable resource to bind parameter "<null atom>"
0(40) : error C5041: cannot locate suitable resource to bind parameter "point"
0(41) : error C5041: cannot locate suitable resource to bind parameter "normal"
0(113) : error C5041: cannot locate suitable resource to bind parameter "eyedir"

and here is the upload, just after the crash

Can you change it back?

If not, you could try to delete the config.cfg file from the UFOAI application data folder (back it up first!). The path looks something like C:\Documents and Settings\[WINDOWS USERNAME]\Application Data\UFOAI\2.4-dev\base\. You must have enabled viewing hidden files and folders to see it.

When you restart UFOAI, it will not detect the config file and will create a new one and you just need to adjust settings again.

But iyt would be more useful if you can post the ufoconsole.log file (in the same folder) so we can see the error message there.

I'd also recommend compiling the source for yourself, using muton's instructions (link is in his sig).
after the application crashed i can reload the game without any problems... it reset the video settings to my last one...
i just was intrested to know if any other got the same problem. here is the ufolog.
