You have to use them every turn I believe.

Since using them I've found them to be ridiculously useful. If you stand on the outside of a landed harvester with your soldiers where the walls are thinnest all the aliens crowd around on the other side of the wall, allowing you to go to town with sniper rifles at absolutely zero risk. I've been meaning to post about this but I'm too lazy to post up a picture, after Christmas maybe.

Haven't played in awhile but 6 GLs and 2 RLs for sniping.

Any of you ever tried any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games? They focus on singleplayer and I love them.
The only flaw in them is that some people find that it can be hard to get running, due to bugs.
Luckily after patching Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky I've never really had a problem.
The first 2 can also be pretty resource-intensive, haven't tried the 3rd yet as I do not speak Russian but I imagine it being the same.

This is a really interesting thread.
One thing that no doubt makes communication so much more difficult is the use of words that have completely different meanings to what is being conveyed.

For example, being intoxicated no one would use this term. Instead you would for example say you were, "hammered, sloshed, plastered, smashed, wasted" etc.

I imagine this making things terribly confusing.

Civilians have always done this since the first released demo as far as I'm aware.
(Once saw a civilian crouch and pickup a kerrblade as well!)

Machineguns (and flamethrowers etc etc) should deal more morale damage for units that are in the firing arc of them. Though I'm not sure I like the way morale works right now.

I love this game. I never played any of the other UFO games and have only ever played ArcAngel, another turn based game which I loved heaps.

The latest additions to the game in RC6 make it awesome. Lovin the tachyon pistols combined with the stun rods =) Captured many aliens now.
