Not bad. What's the shot behind the soldier equip screen? Did you build a little scene in a 3D program or is it just a screenshot from the game?
I like the loading screen too. You might be interested in this (http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php/topic,6387.0.html), which is a WIP.
-
Wow 8)
Very nice.
Especially the loading picture. Is this showing one of the new heavy-armored soldier models ?
Also the background of the equipment screen looks new and fresh...
Please upload the source files.
-
Molto bene kOba!
Ammo il Intro e l screen di equippago (?). ;D
-
very good, I especially like the loading screen. much better than the current default screen.
-
i like background for equipment screen. I would like something like that ingame, with animations.
-
+1 for equipment screen and mainmenu background. Very nice works
-
That looks really great. This Phalanx guy on the loading screen pic is awesome.
-
i really like the render shots - please create more of those scenes and upload them here.
-
Nice! Definitely better then the current.
i really like the render shots - please create more of those scenes and upload them here.
Yes, please. :)
-
The screen shots are planets with 3D scenes recreated for the occasion (of course not the real Size in proportion) I used the 3D model of the armor that is new, I found turning in the forum, (I hope is not a problem). Yes I'm going to upload it here but give me time to correct some errors that we are in a 3D scene, unfortunately I have used the model to be converted file.Md2 with milkshape unfortunately presents a problem because that is exported without Bones and it is impossible to change the posture . Give me a couple of days I will see how to fix things and then I will send you the file. :D
-
can you also share the 3d scene itself? which renderer are you using? and of course it's no problem to use the content of the game to create content for the game ;)
-
I noticed you used the old RPG model for the weapon background render - why?
-
You will not believe but it's the first one I found in the packages of the game!
-
Here's the loading screen!
-
thanks a lot - can you maybe also upload the source file? (xcf or psd or whatever?) we have to remove the "loading" text - as this is translatable and should be rendered by the engine.
-
Great work indeed!
But yes, the text should be removed, we have localizations. Also, it should be rendered in some more standard resolution (1024x768 preferred), and in 24-bit rgb (current version is visibly dithered at the nightsize of Earth).
Having non-flattened version will help too -- this pic has some properties that can allow for small loading animation, even before the most of game is loaded.
-
yes, i thought so, too - we would just need two layers
-
You should also make the green lines a big thicker.
-
I do not understand dithering to 24bit is not good?, is the effect of a spotlight directed on the power armor that leaves behind him! want me to remove it?
It will send the different levels in separate png files that you say?
-
Here are the files separate
-
Can i use the content to improve our IndieDB (http://www.indiedb.com/games/ufo-alien-invasion/news/24-released) site? But i would need also the UFO:AI Logo - where can i find it (@mattn, mcr)?
-
This ?
-
@kOba:
Please do not use .jpg as it is a lossy format and produces artifacts. Use .png instead.
Also we need to know the license you want to release your work under. :)
-
This ?
exactly, thanks :D

Ho trovato la GPL 2, facciamo così rifaccio il paccheto e ve lo invio già con licenza. Datemi un'oretta

Uhm please in english.
-
I Found the GPL 2, Let all package and make my way there already with the Enter License. Give me two hours
-
Here are the packages
-
Here the other
About I am also preparing the main menu!
-
please check out these two render shots - if you could create some more of these (without the ui, we have to replace the existing images because ui is included) - maybe even some variation with different aliens and the like - that would be sweet.

Victory and Defeat should also not be part of the render shot.
-
Just a minor nitpick, but maybe the human soldier on the intro screen should use a human weapon?
-
Yes, there are no problems, however, you should tell me where I can find no models md2, obj format or other ... please.
-
Well, there are .md2's of most weapons (there are all kinds of converters out there)
you should be also able to find some .obj or .3ds models in the repository ( http://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ufoai/ufoai;a=tree;f=models;hb=refs/other/data_source )
-
unfortunatelly we have most of our models only in md2 format - some are available as max files in data_source (http://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ufoai/ufoai;a=tree;f=models;h=2730fbbe5f7b5ce58d47cc03516f3e412af9199d;hb=HEAD)
which modeller do you use? there are importers for md2 for almost every modeller out there. see our modelling articles (http://ufoai.org/wiki/index.php/Modelling) for more information.
-
The winner is...
-
That Soldier without the Helmet scares the shit out of me. Seriously i had to laugh because he looks like a zombie. :D Probably you should exchange him with a female soldier - i remember their faces looked a bit better. And another background would be nice - i like the idea of the dropship in the background but i dont like the background screen. Oh and i dont think its very humanistic to cut off a alien head - it dont fit to the "peace minded human society" of which the intro text speaks (war is over, every people loving each other etc.). :D
-
You see what I have in mind for the defeat ;D ;D ;D
:o You do not like the background? Red sky at night shepherd's delight, they say in Italy! ;D
Tell me what we would prefer as a background?
-
I`m afraid the DeathStar pretends to be Moon :-D
-
Hm...are you sure you scaled the guns properly? They look too small.
And you might want to use heh VHS model for the assault rifle. It's a bit more detailed.
Also, maybe use a Taman head. It's more iconic and recognizable as alien.
I personally like the background. Has the "end ofhte day" feeling to it.
-
my two cents:
* move the soldier with the head in his/her hand a little bit to the right or the left - so that is distinguish a little bit from the other soldier
* the scale of the weapons does not look right - they should be bigger
* the dropship looks a little bit too high - also i'm not sure we should include a dropship her, as the mission could have been made with a different dropship.
* the sky looks cool - but a little bit colorful
I like the overall setting of the render screen - nice job.
-
To be honest, weapons, armour and aliens could be different too. So IMHO the dropship is correct assumption too.
BTW, can we use different screens before|after different types of missions? After terror one screen, other after basedefence and so on?
-
yes - but that would result in more work for kOba ;)
maybe we should try to describe the settings of the mission types
-
my two cents:
* the sky looks cool - but a little bit colorful
Ah thats what bugs me with the background.
-
I could make 3 or 4 but with the same posture that we change only the background, it would be easier to change.
Reshaping a character would be much more complex and difficult. :-\
-
and one with a proper victory celebration scene, with a cabaret in the background ;)
-
What do you mean when you say "and one with a proper victory celebration scene, with a cabaret in the background"?
-
What do you mean when you say "and one with a proper victory celebration scene, with a cabaret in the background"?
just joking. you do know what a cabaret is?
-
Pretty much, I never attended a cabaret, :-\ perhaps you mean a fighter who is the punch line, like, hey you (pointing to the alien) suck my big fucking pink! No no no, so I guess it's closer to a Streap tease clubs. ::) I'm sorry I just did a game with Duke Nukem Forever ;D
Getting back to serious things, I'll see what I can do anything about tomorrow I will! be patient. I have a couple of good ideas for it! ;)

!!!!
-
May be we have some highpoly model of our soldiers? Currently it looks not good from this viewpoint and scaling. Especially in contrast with barrels.
But I like composition and general image.
-
You might want to rethink VictoryScene1. The sky background shows the light source coming from behind the drophship, but the rendered models are lit by a light to the right of the camera.
-
Reflection/sunny day?
No really a problem as far as I'm concenred.
-
I still think you should put that guy a helmet on. ;)
-
Given that it's a victory, he probably removed it. Armour isn't a fun thing to wear out of combat.
Though, maybe having him hold it under his arm or strapped somewhere around his belt might be nice.
-

Well its still a fact that his face is totally ugly. So better hide that zombie face under a helmet. ;)
-
*Sigh*
It's an alien invasion, not a photo shoot.

*Sigh*
It's an alien invasion, not a photo shoot.
Well actually the win/loose screen is a photo shoot. ;)
-
And he's not the model you're looking for.
He's the model you need.

And he's not the model you're looking for.
He's the model you need.
.... these go to eleven!
-
>:(Hello, bad manners, I no longer want to redo them, shoot or not! These are the latest about "victory".
Among the other is welcome thanks and appreciation, because I worked for free! ;D
-
I like last one.
Btw, can you make render with some dead aliens lamped together near firebird?
-
and difficult, I have recovered this model, the scene of Hyperion @ headdie, although I have tried several times, I have not found any other model that is static, all are. md2.
-
Have you seen this (http://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ufoai/ufoai;a=tree;f=models/aliens;h=63d9931b0f84d57f682d511078587f9fd527817b;hb=refs/other/data_source)?
-
ok thanks ;)
-
great, now we have a mutant soldier with two heads and four arms, holding a cut-off head of an alien.
in a previous version, the soldier with the head was "growing" out of the larger soldier below, where the neck and head should have been, resembling a centaur.
i mean, the face-covering helmet disappeared into the general mass of armor, and the two soldiers blended together in such way.
not that phalanx soldiers running rampage and cutting off heads of dead aliens and playing with them would be such a great idea in my opinion.
on some pictures it feels like the barrels are the most important thing in the picture because they are at the central location, and most detailed, and even cover up the firebird.
i think the barrels are superfluous.
on a positive note:
i liked the evening sky, because of the implied 'end of the day' message, as someone also wrote earlier (moon below cloud level, though).
but i think you are making it too complicated, either with the cut off heads or the barrels.
actually the last one (without the barrels) would get my vote (not that it matters much) if the soldier with the alien head was removed from the picture and the sky changed back to evening sky.
and, not only the weapons would need to be larger, but currently the firebird looks like some sports car, shouldn't the firebird be at least 3 times bigger, maybe even 5 times bigger?
and, i wonder how you feel about doing a parody of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eug%C3%A8ne_Delacroix_-_La_libert%C3%A9_guidant_le_peuple.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eug%C3%A8ne_Delacroix_-_La_libert%C3%A9_guidant_le_peuple.jpg) or some other well-known classic, by copying some of the poses?
-
@ homunculus
I do not know if you know what is the difference between illusion and reality, but you have to understand that you can also create optical illusions in order to eliminate programming errors, or just perception. The ancient Greeks and Romans sculptors shortened legs of the statues because they seemed proportionate!
Anyway, you can not expect that with the resources at my disposal I do miracles.
Prime. I ask to be realistic and then ask me to do bigger weapons, when in fact they are smaller (in the game there are guns that seem anti-aircraft artillery). Can you believe?
Second. Not to mention the Firebird in the game that looks like a baby stroller.
Third. But have you seen the maps? and polygonal elements, seems to be a map of Tomb Raider, Chairs square as big as a person. Maps so meager that seem to come from a fashion show!
We leave the mechanics of realistic representation is not in the game and there are appropriate ways to do it.
What you may ask Osiris who made the armor, can certainly do a much better job than mine, what I usually do it for me, so much that I made the first screen of victory, the one with the red sunset.
To do what you ask for a week should I work, do not you exaggerating? But if I could retrieve all the resources I could also try to do it, but it would not be tomorrow
And I still prefer this: ;D

Hello boys
excuse the absence, but I downloaded the 2.5 development and be there I was doing some little game. (What, you have not noticed my absence, patience!)
You have changed my favorite weapon shots, how could you! I'm desperate! eliminate the three strokes of the launcher, the Bolterrifle. I want the massacre alien!
You did not have it ... sniff sniff!
By the way, I also restored my previous interface.
p.s a little present for you ... tatatam tatatam ... the plot hive, I've done this to us! cool is not it?
-
I don't like it. The green is just fine (however will not fit to UI2), but the hex-es are bad..

UI2, user interface 2, not yet implemented new user interface, I believe

UI2, a work in progress (http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php/topic,6387.0.html). If we're lucky it will make it into 2.5.
-
ha ok ;)
-
UI2, a work in progress (http://ufoai.org/forum/index.php/topic,6387.0.html). If we're lucky it will make it into 2.5.
I thought it is the main feature of 2.5? Or are we going to release major versions now in a shorter time period? :P
-
I don`t like font. It looks a bit GTA`tish. Also we do not use rendered texts, since it is not able to translate such type of messages.
-
@ homunculus
[...]To do what you ask for a week should I work, do not you exaggerating? But if I could retrieve all the resources I could also try to do it, but it would not be tomorrow [...]
week?
are you sure there was no misunderstanding?
-
Yes I'm sure it takes a week!
We are sure that there is a misunderstanding, and you've generated.
If you ask me to do this to you::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eug%C3%A8ne_Delacroix_-_La_libert%C3%A9_guidant_le_peuple.jpg
and, i wonder how you feel about doing a parody of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eug%C3%A8ne_Delacroix_-_La_libert%C3%A9_guidant_le_peuple.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eug%C3%A8ne_Delacroix_-_La_libert%C3%A9_guidant_le_peuple.jpg) or some other well-known classic, by copying some of the poses?
« Last Edit: May 27, 2012, 11:02:18 AM by homunculus »
>:( What do you think that I have nothing to do?
WRONG!
-
the misunderstanding is that i never asked to do the whole scene.
for example, i have read that the statue of liberty is a ripoff of this painting (not sure if that is true, but could be), and that is just one figure.
and i didn't even ask you to do it, but asked for your opinion about copying some classic pose.
opinion and doing are different, right?
and, on top of that, i was suggesting to simplify the scene by removing the second soldier, and the barrels.
so, removing the second soldier would take you a week? i doubt that.
that was the misunderstanding.
-
Honestly, what do you think or believe may be important but only for practical purposes, and what you do does is ensure that I get tired of doing things for everyone who asks me, especially if they lead nowhere.
I have no idea whether the statue of liberty has been taken from the painting by Delacroix, you can view the ideological offspring. But honestly I do not care.
This is not a job, if it becomes a job someone has to pay, is not an option.
So I'll do what I want when I go and not when someone decides!
If you think that removing the barrel or a character, or put two or three dead aliens, or even repeat the parody of the Delacroix's painting, reduces the amount of work why not try to do it, let's see how it is, and how much time you put! I'm curious to see your theory to the test of facts.
Starting today!
Maybe you also work with where you live. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
I am developing the icons of armor to equip, but I have this problem, the image tends to elongate, Why? Does anyone know anything?
-
I am developing the icons of armor to equip, but I have this problem, the image tends to elongate, Why? Does anyone know anything?
Could you make them models instead? It would be better.
Ofc. it's possible that we need to change some code for it, but still.

-
intend to the 3D mesh
No problem when you do that 2D is the mesh, I can close it and post it.
-
i would like a model too. At least to test how to merge that to the code.
-
here it is
-
It is probably elongating because the image dimensions don't match those of the previous armour images.
-
It is probably elongating because the image dimensions don't match those of the previous armour images.
Anyway, using images was a walkaround as we didn't have armour models just body models for the old set (and noone voluteered to make them).
-geever
-
I'd rather use images than models because the UI model display is not nice. But I can see the value in either approach. I'm not interested in reinventing anything here.
-
but the model rendering will be fixed someday... - with normal and glowmaps
-
I cleaned the old powder magazine for the bazooka screen rendering equipment to you.
-
that is great work, nice one.
