Hi, and (hopefully) welcome aboard.

Winter has control over artwork. mattn is the project leader as well as the lead programmer, and the rest of the core team loosely consists of Kracken, hoehrer Richlv and myself. There are many others who contribute though. UFO:AI is a collective effort.

It would be great if you could help create new models and/or textures, particularly the ones listed in the needed models thread, but if you come up with something of your own, be it a new model or a replacement for something you think doesn't look good, we'd certainly be interested in that too.

Keep in mind that if you want to contribute, you must agree to release your work under a compatible license ("GPL V2 or later" is the preferred license).

Hi Senee,

If you're interested in making art contributions to UFO:AI, we'd be very happy to have you on board!

You'd be working mostly with me (I'm design lead and I do art direction as well). We generally have a loose way of working where works in progress are posted to the forums, so everyone can make suggestions, although only mattn, hoehrer, BTAxis and me have a say about whether or not something needs changing or is ready for inclusion in the game.

Or, if you'd rather work with me personally by forum PMs or other messaging programs, that's fine with me too. Just let us know!

Regards,
Winter

hi and welcome,

as the others already have answered most of your questions, i would just like to get a request to you ;)

i think winter can tell you more, but we need animations for climbing a ladder and flying with a "jetpack" for our heavy armoured guys. we have a data_source repository at http://ufoai.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ufoai/ufoai/data_source/models/characters/ - there are also bip files for all the currently existing animations (or if you like them more the fully rigged max source files that contains the bip, too of course)

it would be very nice if you could add some more animations to our characters. we've had a lot of guys who contributed static meshes - but nothing rigged or animated went into the tree for quite some time. we really need your help here ;).

greetings and hope to hear back from you
martin

Edit
Some very very nice stuff in the portfolio.

I used only command line client for svn and knew only "checkout" at all ;). As a example - when i`d douwnloading  AI a conlost happend... copy of project was incomplete and locked. I tried "clean" but error was returne. 8( I think u use smth more userfriendly then windows command promt ;)

You can have a look here (http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/TortoiseSVN) for a tutorial on tortoiseSVN.

Hello. You also can download all files as a tarball (http://ufoai.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ufoai/ufoai/data_source/models/characters/) with a download manager (web browser often dont well download big files: resuming?)

Kildor, can you please refrain from using Russian in a non-translation thread.

Not all of us use ICQ, but most of us use IRC. Visit us in #ufo:ai on irc.freenode.net.

yep yep - i think all must write english translation if use native language.

Kildor says  "ICQ are the worses thing in the world and must be destroyed" or smth like that ^_^

by the way - where i can find characters models in max or obj and description what animation needed. Sory if this Q is simple. I dont spend time for inquiring in... yet.

The model sources you can find in the data_source branch in the SVN repository. We don't have a list of needed anymations as far as I know... But ask mattn and he'll gladly make one for you.

Animations I can think of:

- Prone (moving, firing weapons)
- Firing from the shoulder
- Climbing ladders
- Activating things? (doors, switches)
- More death animations? (especially from being shot at from the side or back)

sorry but please tell by other words "what will the license be which you release your work under?
is "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0" ok?"

is thats mean that u asking me about "will i work for free?"   is that correct?

yes i will. Time only the question.

am i correct?

now i trying to understend structure of the project but have same problems with time.

The licence you release your work under is important. A license is the legal side of things.

If you don't release your work under a compatible licence, we can't use it.

I don't know what the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 actually says (you'd have to read it), but it probably basically comes down to this:

- You provide your work as well as the sources to this project.
- Anyone else can take your work from our project to use it for whatever they want, as long as they keep it under the same license.
