I think this is a condemned topic. I can only repeat myself: it's too much code to write AND maintain for such a feature. Too much possibility for bugs and so. It doesn't worth. Ask BTAxis, I think he will agree. Or read some other forum topics about (great?) gameplay feature requests were refused.

edit2: Well in fact, I can't enter the crash sites :( I'll wait for a more stable version like Destructavator also said.

Check the console. If it says something about incompatible versions then the maps weren't recompiled. It's not a bug in the program, nor maps,  but mistake by the packager. :) You could try SVN...

btw We don't wanna make it OO, AFAIK, notihng is OO in ufo (but It's rather for Mattn).

I'm working on "floating menus" so we'll have to coordinate it not messing eachother's work. I have only some (2-3) bugs left maybe you could help fixin' them. Join on IRC in the evening (CEST) if possible. :)

You should know that isn't an answer to me. :)

I think the first base will be important anyway because that's the first base. There are prebuilt buildings and the player will collect artifacts and experience there in the beginning. I think there is no need to force it by hand (but could be annoying if done). And as the algorithm was random there would be only 1/5 chance to have a fully opened second base (with 0/4 min/max values) which isn't too much in this case, IMO.

Also in 2.2.1 you'll have 2 blocked spaces on every new base. This behavior was changed in the current dev version where number of blocked tiles is random. So you have a chance to have a fully open base.

That other seems to be a bug but unreproducible in dev version as ghosta said so it must be fixed already.
