Title: Civilian friendly fire deaths and promotions
Post by: Colonel Carnage on September 19, 2013, 06:00:24 am
On a mission 2 months back, my best soldier killed the last alien with a grenade launcher.  Unfortunately, an unseen civilian near the alien also died.  The soldier was a Senior Warrant Officer and had a mind of 50 (now 53) and has not been promoted since.  Is one civilian friendly fire death enough to freeze a soldier's advancement or does it just take awhile for a soldier to get promoted to a commissioned officer rank?  This is on 2.4.

I don't know what the thresholds are for 2.4, but civilian deaths can stop rank advancement. Each rank has a limit, but looking at 2.5-dev's values, a soldier won't be given Senior Warrant Officer or any higher rank if they have any civilian deaths. So if your civ death came after that, he's probably frozen.

Thanks for the quick reply.  What a shame, he was way ahead of everyone else.  Loving the game BTW.
