Title: Losses
Post by: Aleks on June 24, 2010, 11:55:26 pm
Hello. I have a question about combat losses - do you accept any or immediately retry the mission after loosing a good soldier?
I am doing more than 10 missions a month, so even if I waste only 1 soldier each mission, I'll run out of them very quickly. Unlike, for example, X-COM UFO Defense, where you can replace your soldiers much easier. Is this still being balanced or will remain unchanged in the next release?

P.S. sry for my english.

I don't mind losing my officers with an assault rifle, they're a dime a dozen. I retry if I lose anyone else as they don't get as much kills as assault rifle, so they take a really long time to get up in ranks and skill.

It depends on the reason why I lost the soldier. If I had a blackout, I'll retry, but if the aliens just fought well, it is okay for me no matter what the rank of the soldier was.

Here a some hints to increase the lifetime of your soldiers:

1. Every soldier must wear the strongest available armor even if it slows him down. Research the alien armor as fast as you can to get a better armor.

2. Use medipacks on the battlefield. It works better than the base facility.

I wish there was a wounded system actually.

What do you mean?  I have soldiers get wounded all the time.   My best sniper is recovering in hospital right now.

I think he meant a system when a soldiers HP reaches 0% theres a certain percentage chance that he gets wounded instead of killed.

I think it's the system that a medpack is not able to heal a soldier back to full health (only in the mission), but he has to regenerate for some weeks in a hosiptal before he could be sent on another mission again.

Medikits are kinda working too good in this version, I have several times healed soldier from less than 10 hp (twice actually from 1 hp) up to full health during mission.
