Title: Problems with 2.4 version..[armour issue solved]
Post by: gargy2002 on July 04, 2011, 01:55:05 am
Hi all,
I couldn't wait until the 2.4 trunk comes out so I have installed the development version as I always do. The game is cool again but I have noticed some problems. The soldiers are always in the same directions so when I move forward, an alien behind opens fire and mostly kill a member of the squad. They are pretty accurate and the damage level is also higher than in my soldier because they can fire 3 single shots from a plasma handgun and a soldier is dead. I have to fire 2x double fire (6 shots) from a laser rifle to kill him (Taman w/o armor). I don't know why but I can't collect any alien armor (even when they wear a light or strong armor) and it means that I'm stuck with just that human armor from the beginning of the game. I have chosen quite many auto missions (50x50) so maybe there is the problem.
I use the last Sabayon linux 6.0 as an OS. I don't bother with the level damage but the missing armor research makes my soldiers weak and I have to retry many missions to keep the squad alive. It takes a single shot to kill a soldier by a plasma rifle. I have to fire 3 rockets or 5 grenades to kill an Ortnok with a heavy armor equipped by the rifle or a plasma blaster but he kills a soldier by a single shot..:)

Automission feature is WIP, it doesn't collect items yet.

Hi, some of them show (mission statement) that items have been collected. It also shows that instead of a Harvester I'm selling a Scout but the price is correct. The damage level of the crashed UFO (percentage) is also different, I mean when I want to sell it and when actually selling to a nation. It might be a bug but not important, I recover landed Ufos only, they have more aliens materials and the dismantle time is also the same as for damaged ones..

Collecting data for the result screen is not yet finished (for automission), so it is possible, that it shows data from earlier (maybe manually done) mission here or there.

It is by-design.

Hi,
I have started playing the game again and now without the automissions. I still can't collect the alien armor even when all aliens on a mission wear them. I have noticed a bug. When I play the middle East suburb mission, one soldier can't move at all and has to stay at the Firebird. I can't play it. Later missions when all Ortnoks have the heavy armor and my soldier only the basic ones are like a slaughter.. :(

Upload your savegame here please. I doubt you can't collect armours.

Which map exactly it is? Look for CM_LoadMap line in ufoconsole.log next time you play on that map.

Tactics man, tactics...

Ok, uploading some saved games. I have played this game even on Ubuntu and that was 2 years ago. I would say that I'm pretty good tactic leader but this trunk is not about tactics. I can't see an alien even when he moves behind me. He just disappears and I don't even notice that he was right behind me. Civilians are also more friendly to aliens. Block entrances and looking alien company that I can't even shoot at them..:) Believe me, I know this game pretty well and this trunk is the most difficult trunk so far without a doubt..

I've just got an error when I was ending a hill mission. All done, 2 aliens stunned, other killed and when I was going to kill the last one in a Harvester, the game froze and crashed (shut itself)..

The soldiers are always in the same directions so when I move forward, an alien behind opens fire and mostly kill a member of the squad.

This is a bug I've introduced. See here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3354196&group_id=157793&atid=805242

Sorry 'bout that. Hope to get this fixed before v2.4 comes out.

Hi all,
Anyone about the armour?? I just couldn't complete a mission. Found at least 3 heavy armoured Ortnoks in a Laboratory building and it always ended by a killing of 2 my soldiers due to an insufficient protection when even 2 sniper close range shots couldn't stop the aliens. I'm a bit desperate..:)

This looks like more serious. I have downloaded a tested version for Windows and the same problem persist even on Windows!! I don't think that this is a coincidence... :o

I think I have got an idea. Can any good soul upload a save at the beginning of the game with the alien armour in research for me, please??? Thank you very much!!

i same problem, can not collect armour any-more (last time was last summer).
i may think a way to cheat the game to research them but ... dev version is unstable.

Me too, I have borrowed a save from here..:D
I have noticed that there are only 2 alien armours (in 4 bases) so far. I have no idea when the armour was collected but it looks like only one or two were collected and nothing else so far even when I killed many alien with them. I guess that there is a particular mission and when you miss it, the armour won't come up anymore..
The crashed fighter missions (I need it for credits) are really terrible. I'm sick of them. 4 of 5 missions start with a crashed ship behind and 5 aliens (mostly with heavy or a light armour) with plasma blasters or rifles in the autofire mode. Turn a soldier back and they open fire. They mostly kill at least 2 soldiers and I can't even shoot because the other soldiers are behind the Firebird and can't get into the action until the next round. I must skip at least 3 maps until I get some playable one. I always enjoyed the game but the newest trunk is very poor. Snipers shoot worse than my little niece. They get killed when are in a fight against Tamans without armour and equipped by a single plasma pistol from a long range..

When I play the middle East suburb mission, one soldier can't move at all and has to stay at the Firebird.
I have noticed that the soldier who can't move in the Middle East missions is in a different direction. It's probably related to the bug that all soldiers are watching the same direction, mostly the same way as the Firebird landed...

But neither of you told us which map is it exactly, neither posted a screenshot so our mappers could fix it!

But this is not on a single map. This is in all maps from the Middle East suburban areas. You have to fix the issue with all soldiers in the same direction and you will fix this bug as well. When I play the crashed fighter sites, all soldiers are heading the same way as aliens, however, mostly in front of their guns and each time the first soldier turns back, they open fire and kill him or kill the highest ranking soldier (the best). I can't see an alien even when he is standing next to me and other soldier is behind and watching also forward. I need to turn every single soldier by 360 degrees to find out if any aliens are around. I mean that everybody covers approx 180 degree area in front of him by his pair of eyes but the Phalanx soldiers cover definitely less in the 2.4 develop version..:)
I will try to get a screenshot if possible..

I downloaded last night the latest installer for Windows and the armour problem still persists. I also had a problem with BTR file system on my linux system and I can't access the /home directory anymore. It means that all data (the game, saves etc..) on it is lost. I'm not going to install it again so we can close this thread..

The issue was fixed right today. Too bad you're not going to install the game again... :(

I'm weak so maybe I will install it again.:) If the missing armour issue was fixed, then I may change my mind (don't have to steal saves). I have uninstalled the game but I didn't have to. I'm getting a new ssd drive tomorrow (hope so) and will install Win and linux as a fresh install so I'm going to start from scratch. It will take some time until I tune the systems up and then I can play again..:)
