I lost one dropship but I reloaded, I started the mission just to see what is all about and saw crashed dropship :)

btw. good idea...not always. As you said, sometimes allies would intervene, sometimes ufo would also be shot down...etc.

You just need some good undelete program (deleted files recovery program).

When I come home I can give oyu some suggestions as I use few of them, one of them is called undelete :)

Well since aliens only have some activity here and there, there is 99% chance that pilot who will survive will be rescued by alies and returned to us in few days.
So im not sure that i want so se rescue mission.

But there is rescue mission for dropship...I think aliens would want to capture downed pilot?!

There should be some probability he would need rescue as dropship does.

I know there is very big possibility you are all aware of this:

Anyone of you who played XCOM Apocalypse can remember moments when city police attacked UFOs side by side with you. I think it would be logical and nice to see military fighter jets joining the battle with you. Also, Phalanx weapons should be experimental and used only by Phalanx interceptors.
So, military jets of various countries should use normal, up to date weapons and equipment but Phalanx should use experimental, expensive, advanced weapons.
I think its not realistic that such organization (Phalanx) is using standard weapons and equipment. They should use most advanced weapons Earth has.

Another thing that would be logical are ufos flying in formation. Something like: after successful interceptions early in the game UFOs are starting to fly in formations.
Supply ships should be guarded by at least 2 fighters and UFO speed should not be constant (just like in ufo: enemy unknown).

To compensate this (in gameplay) military fighter jets are stepping in. It should be possible to coordinate attack with them.

I know people are giving you suggestions that you heard before, that you all were thinking about, I know its lots of work but hey, I love this game and I just wanna see it better and better with each new version :)

btw. I would like to see cyborgs in the game, battle robots, more nasty aliens...

Hmm, my scepticism was based on there being no reference to this in game in any research reports relating to any of the enemy UFO's, or the tech you can scavenge and research from them. Having read through the file, I am under the impression that it refers to armour in terms of some kind of modifier rather than shields - which is why the fighter UFO has a number of "2" - which possibly corresponds to UFO armour, where polymer armour would be "1", and alien polymer would be "5" by the looks of it.

I modified shield stats for all ufos, 3 to gunboat, 4 to ripper, 5 to bomber!

Im playing 2.5 now, Im researching starchaser and that new dropship. I have 4 dragons armed with alien launchers and beams :D

Good news about pilots returning. I would like to see rescue missions of downed interceptor pilots!

They are planning on adding a battle screen for air combat, though with the way it has been described I imagine something that looks like watching battles in Galactic Civilizations 2 except you would be able to interact with your aircraft.

If you unpack 0ufos file in base folder you will find there file named aircraftmanagment, there you can change stats of of ufos, interceptors, dropships. There you can see which craft has shields!

One other thing, sometimes game informs you that pilot died, sometimes dont, so if pilot survived, where is he?

I had one superb pilot (skills), he was shot down, he did not die but where is he :) ?

You can even use camera room on other maps like that parking building map. YOu enter underground, go for the room and use cameras :)

One thing that is solved bad in this game is air combat.

I would suggest something similar to original ufo: enemy unknown.

Another "problem" is the speed of UFOs and interceptors (which I changed so now speed is generally 2x to 3x faster and I changed projectiles/missiles speed and SAM reloading times accordingly). It was really unreal for me to see ufos that can be outrunned by ME 262 :) or even Ta -152!

Generally 2.5 is superb version and I like it alot (with some changes I made).

Tech in game is generally comparable with present time, mostly (except alien tech).

Reaction fire problems :P

In real combat soldier that is hiding in narrow space (ambush) is in great advantage. Lets say I am at the end of corridor hiding behind wall:

1. I can hear enemy coming and shoot at him around corner
2. I can peek and open fire on unsuspecting enemy

In this game waiting around corner is great disadvantage, specially on high rise map. Im waiting for enemy to come to me, hiding on the stairs but my soldier reactions are too slow so enemy can come around the corner and just shoot my soldiers faster than they can respond.

It gets specially bad when using plasma blades, they have reaction fire but it is unusable in such cases. Battle hoovernet had time to come to my soldier hiding at first step on stairs, come face to face to him and obliterate him.

Game engine has some limitations but you can simulate this in the manner of adding one more fire mode - reaction fire fast fire mod which can be used only as reaction fire option. It will simulate real situation well.

I also discovered small bug - missing fire when shooting near the tent in woods....I just loose TUs but there is no bullets.

Also, UFOs are to slow and too weak so I doubled their damage capacity and I made all aircrafts 2 to 3 times faster then I also made ammo and rockets + SAM weapons faster to compensate faster UFOS.

Saracen has now cruise speed of over 3000 kmh, stiletto over 2200.

I also made scout faster cos its scout, unarmed craft and it needs to be fast.
