Linux / Re: Widescreen startup

Code: [Select]
./ufo +set vid_mode -1 +set vid_height 1024 +set vid_width 1920

Correcting the above for use with a wide screen netbook.

Also this is not needed and may not work with some linux builds andolder builds will still need it.
Code: [Select]
./
This works with kubuntu 11.04
Code: [Select]
ufo +set vid_mode -1 +set vid_height 600 +set vid_width 1024

Edit: after installing this on 7 other computers, (lan party) the best way to get it to go into full screen is to do the above and change both the hight and width to 500. Then start the game, go into the video seeings and set it to one of the 3 built in settings then you can put it in full screen. After that quit the game so it saves the setting, just encase the game locks up or crashes.

Linux / Re: Can't Install from Playdeb
« on: August 12, 2011, 10:32:41 pm »
You needto install the playdeb package.

http://archive.getdeb.net/install_deb/playdeb_0.3-1~getdeb1_all.deb

Download that and run it with 'ubuntu software centere' or other package manager

After that you can get games from playdeb.

Thanks Kemlo, but the last post with for a pre-compiled copy is "UFOAI_2-3-Dev_r18915.zip" thats 2.3 from 2008... (am I translating that right?)

Come with me while I figure this out...

Error

Can't find D:\program files\UFOAI\UFOAIwin32BUILDenv\MinGW\bin\git.exe

this is when I point the that GUI you linked to the minGW folder... so do i just place the git.exe in there?

I dunno... lets try... the text/direction box on the right says "I'll try to get the source" and its turned red and black and green and

'Remember I'm typing this as the journey unfolds'

lots of words and its bright green...

more words  compressing objects 79%...

receiving 12%....

seems to be working...

still 12% going to walk the dog. To be continued...

15 or 20 minuets later 13

I really hope this works...

15% and its salmon colored is that normal?

Be back when its 100% probable with more problems, but lets hope not. :)

Windows / Stuck, trying to play 2.4

Because 2.3 has ample bugs and I figured maybe I can help by playing on 2.4 SVN

But I'm completely lost... well not lost, I know were I'm stuck.

Easy Way

If you want only last master head as most peoples do, then after installing msysGit first you need open it's shotcut 'Git Bash' and type this:
- git init ufoai
- cd ufoai
- git remote add -t master origin git://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/ufoai/ufoai
- git fetch --depth 1
- git checkout -t origin/master

Done,

I am here...

now you can use TortoiseGIT for more easy management of all downloaded stuff. Instead you can use Git Clone -> depth 1 and it will download around 32000~ objects, but first way is better.

Any how-tos for using "TortoiseGIT"? I used SVNs for ultima before but this GIT has me confused...

Thanks in advance.

Linux / Re: Cant start UFO:AI

I DID IT!!! i got my linux build working... This was a huge step for me because I figured it out my self... It was simple really... I video drivers were not set up right... all I did was change from nvidia driver (version 96) to (version 180) and it worked fine... then I realized on my other slightly older computer that uses the on board video that It cannot run the game due to hardware suckyness...

I believe some of the screen shots shown are from the 2.3 build, if you reload the page it will change the thumb shown... Its not a big deal I just found it odd I couldn't click for larger image there...

SO I'm sorry to say I IS a linux noob... and i messed with the linux build for about an hour... well i gave up, I was never able to get past this vary issue...... But in only 12 minuets I was playing the game using the windows build through wine... only slight issues with sound but nothing I wasn't able to tweak in wine settings...

Again I'm sorry for my linux nooby-ness... But at least I got to play the game...
