MESA Invasion
(1/1)
harduser:
Hi guys,
I've been having trouble running UFO:AI, since I refreshed my Fedora Cora 4 installation. I successfully installed ATI drivers:
--- Code: ---[harduser@float ufoai]$ glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
server glx extensions:
GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating,
GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_OML_swap_method, GLX_SGI_make_current_read,
GLX_SGIS_multisample, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig
client glx vendor string: ATI
client glx version string: 1.3
client glx extensions:
GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_EXT_import_context,
GLX_ARB_get_proc_address, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_ATI_pixel_format_float,
GLX_ATI_render_texture
GLX extensions:
GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_EXT_import_context,
GLX_ARB_multisample
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON XPRESS 200M Series SW TCL Generic
OpenGL version string: 2.0.5695 (8.23.7)
--- End code ---
As you can see direct rendering is enabled. xorg.conf is OK, with DRI section:
--- Code: ---
Section "DRI"
Group 0
Mode 0666
EndSection
--- End code ---
I've tried this: http://liflg.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=615
and this:
--- Code: ---
//set vid_ref gl
//set gl_driver "opengl32"
set vid_ref glx
set gl_driver libGL.so
--- End code ---
but still get ufoai trying to use MESA indirect rendering, which delays mouse movements and makes the game unplayable and even hard to quit. Here's the output from ufoai:
--- Code: ---
[harduser@float ufoai]# ./ufoai

SGI? This should be ATI, don't it?
Do you use the fglrx as driver in your xorg.conf?
harduser:
xorg.conf looks fine to me. I used aticonfig tool to set it up. Please, have a look:

# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"

Mattn:
try to start ufo with:
./ufo +set vid_ref sdl
but only if you use the svn version
harduser:
Thanks Mattn, but I solved my problem reinstalling ati driver from ati installation script. Everything looks better now:

The game runs and rocks!
I'm gonna kick some alien asses now. Cheers!
