Storyline Proposal: Time travelling aliens

it is pretty close to startrek but it could make some sense in ufo ;-)

so here is a new storyline proposal:

* aliens attack earth in the year 2500
* as resistence is too heavy aliens decide to use their "time machine" (or some kind of wormhole - whatever) to travel back ~500 years in time
-> this timetravel cant be done very frequently so at the beginning there is only a small army of aliens which is forced to use terrorist style guerilla tactics (using their superior technology) because of their small numbers.

there could be some nice extras in this story eg some kidnapped humans from 2500 who are being rescued by the player and help him to develop new technology faster ...

what do you think about that?

Time travel is a huge landmine.

Why go back only 500years?
What about the effect of changing history?
Can they go back to the future?
Why did they attack earth in the first place
If they can travel in time, how come they can't beat us in the present?
What do they hope to achieve in the past?
Why are they kidnapping people?

Needs to be thought out a little better. An original idea, but not exactly a workable one.

In terms of science fiction, time travel has been recognized as a sort of crutch for weak plotlines.  It should be avoided at all costs.  Truth is, in modern science, time doesn't exist, it's an illusion created by your brain to recognize sequential events.

We do avoid it at all costs. The current storyline team is trying to maintain plausible realism throughout the game in plot, writing and art (with some concessions to FTL travel and psionics). There's certainly not going to be any time travel as long as I'm here.
