Well, this only happens when I have no external monitor connected, which I find odd. This must be something to do with video resolution, but I can't seem to get around it.
I tired connecting the external monitor (extended desktop with the same resolution 1440x900 on my laptop and 1920x1080 on the external) and it worked! No error while loading.
Tried turning off the said monitor, and it worked on my laptop display! (@1440x900).
I've tried several resolutions, but it doesn't seem to help. As soon as I take the laptop somewhere I have no external monitor, well, there is no playing!...
By the way, I've changed the game to run windowed, inside the Options menu, but it still doesn't help.
Help is needed. :D this is a great game, excelent work, lads!
Battlescared:
I got that same error on the Linux version when Linux Mint upgraded my video driver without using the NVidia installer. It broke my OpenGL layer.
I would suggest deinstalling your driver and reinstalling the latest Nvidia driver. It may be Windows decided to automatically install it for you, but the Nvidia driver does additional stuff the basic Windows installer doesn't.
Mattn:
delete the config.cfg in your homedir or start ufo with: ./ufo +set vid_mode -1

I'll just add that when I got that message, all my openGL games were broke, even Wine. UFOAI was just the first one I discovered it on.
