Select soldier on higher level

Hi,
i play 2.5-dev.
when a soldier detect an alien that stands, let's say on level 3. I click on the "detect" button on the number. The map goes to level 3. Then when i want to select another soldier the square is light blue. I can't select the soldier. When i go to lever on that this soldier stands i can select him. Is that normal? It is a bit annoying to go to lower level to select a soldier( alien disappears he stands on a hill or roof) and i must go again to level 3 to aim at the alien.
EDIT:
This happens above level 3. on 1,2 it works. I think the height difference becomes too big to attach the soldier ...

It's not ideal, but it's expected. The game can't always tell exactly which tile you are trying to select. It could be improved, but not sure how easy such a thing would be.

To solve this (I've also encountered the case) I suggest eventually an easy thing such as assigning the space-bar (for instance) to cycle over the stages -->
* Hit space bar
* If no soldier selected, reselect the last one
* If one soldier selected, cycle over the level : level + 1 until levelmax reached, then level = levelminOk, that would be a sort of fix, and even a playable tool.

I cannot remember having this problem back in 2.4. Even the early stages of 2.5-dev did not show this behaviour iirc.
I am with Sims here, this is annoying. I will test it and if this was not the case in 2.4, it should not be the case in 2.5 either.

I have noticed that the selection depends on the angle of the view ...
