geoscape time control unresponsive
« on: January 01, 2013, 10:22:59 pm »
almost every time when I go to geoscape and click to have the time start rolling, it takes 10-ish seconds before anything happens. once it gets going it works normally from there.

Agreed, I just don't know what information to attach. Are others experiencing the same? What could we provide to help fix this?

so, I load or start a new game, accelerate time and wait until a ufo shows up, click it to send interceptor and click a time control button to start the action, and nothing happens for >10 sec. happens consistently.

Maybe. Do you have "Pre-cache models" setting on?

Its relative to how quickly you're speeding up time isn't it?
At 20 mins or 1hr the geoscape feels pretty responsive with radar picking up new UFO then sending out an interceptor.. whenever I go higher then that, I start to get the initial delay (right after sending out interceptor)..   I sorta just chalked it up to the game keeping things in sync plus an older com.

Had this issue though it seems to have subsided presently for reasons unknown. I had waits of 1 minute before time commenced on the geoscape and models would move.

no. I don't know what it does and it's off by default, right?

I just tried with different time settings, at 5sec and 5min the delay is rather long, but any faster than that and things get moving immediately or at least almost. During the delay everything remains responsive though, time just doesn't start running.

I tried that setting, and it helps.

Another hint on the model loading issue from mattn:

Create mdx files via make models, creating mdx on load time is known to be bit slow.
