Texture problem on savage video card.
(1/1)
Erik:
Hello,
i use gentoo linux kernel 2.6.17-gentoo-r8, xorg-x11-7.1, mesa-6.5.1-r2 and savage-2.1.2 opsensource drivers. My video card is savage 400 DDR-K.
I have the following problem in RC5: the textures are shown in a completely wrong way.
The version 0.10.040218, which is included in gentoo portage tree hasn't this problem.
Any Idea?
Oh, the log is:

Erik:
Apparently the program is unable to find /pics folder, but it is there. menu/buildings_ll and /menu/buildings_ll are missing.

ubequitz:
You can safely ignore the "Can't find pics" stuff (most people see this, I think it is the game initially looking in the wrong place for the pics).
I do know there are problems when trying to run the game using certain video cards/driver combos (eg radeon cards with the open-source R300 drivers result in texture corruption too). The worrying part of your log is probably: "...max texture size: ......cannot detect !".
"version 0.10.040218" of ufo:ai was from 2004 (I'm not even sure where to find a code snapshot from that long ago!).
Mattn:
the code snapshot is in svn, too. but i don't have the time to look into the code atm. will be back in about a week.... then i might have a look - but i will need your feedback to be able to solve the problems.
