Crash upon mission exit

Just started yesterday--have played for about a month--Win XP---no system changes software or hardware at all

can load game, play in world view fine, start mission, finish mission---crashed to Desktop with no error message of any kind--just exits program.

Any suggestions?

{UPDATE}
of all weird fixes---played a skirmish and now everything seems back to normal}

{2nd Update--disregard above, appears random, sometimes works and sometimes not}
