America North reports all systems working as expected. We ordered a Stilletto Interceptor. Armed with a Shiva Cannon and two Sparrowhawk launchers we are able to take down the unarmed UFOs now. I will not send a lone Interceptor to engage the Fighters armed ones. The risk of loosing the Interceptor is just too big.





First UFO is detected.



We send the Stiletto III to take it down.

After buying a Firebird, the equipment for the second squad and some donuts for the ground crew we are down tp 31635 credits. Not enough to build a Hospital in North America. And by far too little for a second interceptor + hangar. We hire everyone available, just to get a full squad.

I'm Rodo from HLP, I see you've been there. The LP's on those forums are a ton of fun to read, now people are adding their own logs after the fights, a blast to read.

Question about H-Hour´s new User Interface, I used it a while ago with 2.4 dev but it was incomplete, I wasn't able to make transfers between bases so I had to give up on it, is it still WIP or all features have been included?

Upload the images in high resolution using jpg setting with almost no quality lost, so i can upload some of them on indieDB.
I would suggest Paint.net and save the screenshots as jpg using a quality setting around 95% (you can set it if you use "save as")

No, it is still not even close to supporting the main functions.

There´s only 3 places out of 16 used so far. It seems like poeple here are not used to stuff like that. Of course we cannot risk to lose Mattn or geever, but H-Hour signed up for duty, ChemBro and Jon_dArc are in without a choise. Those guys are dispensable. What kind of guy you want to be ?

The HLPX-COM LP by NGTM-1R was epic, as is the new one about TFT. I never miss to read it. First thing I did read over there was Thrashman´s about UFO: AI.

The new UI is still early (?) WIP, missing a lot of stuff. I was trying to use it for this thread (to do some testing), but its not possible yet.

Oh, I forgot. Welcome!

MEh..Sign me up. A sniper position if decent sniper is avilalbe. If not, assault.

Nice to see some brave men jumping in.

Unfortunately yesterday in the evening, in the mid of the next mission, my graphic card did quit. At least I think it is a problem with the graphics. I can work normally, but as soon as I start UFO: AI, after like five minutes the graphics get pixelated and the system freezes completely. Today in the morning it did not even start up for some time.  :'(

I will drive to the shop to get a new one and try to get it installed. Wish me luck (I will need it).

Alpha Squad (Phalanx HQ, Asia)
Jon_dArc Rifleman 6 missions 2 kills Assault Rifle
ChemBro Rifleman 6 missions 3 kills MG
Crystan Rifleman 6 missions 2 kills Sniper Rifle

All those guys have at least average stats, ChemBro is Specialist in Assault skill.

Beta Squad (America North)
H-Hour Newbie Assault Rifle + 2 additional Frag Grenades
Rodo Newbie Riot Shotgun
ThrashMan Newbie Sniper

From those guys, H-Hour has slightly above average stats. (To compensate for this, he has has a somewhat female look. But the living quarters do not allow for any privacy, so I am sure everything is alright.) The rest, well, let´s hope they last long enough for the replacement to arrive. I had to give Rodo the Shotgun, none had the Assault skill above 17. ThrashMan has 21 Sniper skill.

We had 9 soldiers at the beginning, and got 7 recruits at the end of april. With two squads of eight we now hired all available soldiers. Still two weeks ´til end of month.

New graphics device is working. Surprisingly it seems the game is slower now than it was with the old one ???.

We have two crash sites. While Beta Squad is waiting for daylight (better pics) Alpha Squad arrives at Neighbourhood map. Looks peaceful, but the alien activity was reported.

We take cover near the wall of the building. While moving, ChemBro reports contact. One red/gray alien on the upper floor of the building.



This is a situation we clearly want to avoid.



There is no chance to attack him without getting shot. Even throwing the grenade will trigger the RF, and it probably will not miss. We will wait for a better oportunity and retreat here.

This looks promising. The aliens lined up, back turned to ChemBro. This guy is an artist with his MG. A short burst and the first Alien is down. Femke Sivertsen, hiding around the corner inside the building, kills the other one and retreats.



Last one to Crystan. Two shots with the Siper Rifle, to kill an alien that is crouching on a square next to him. Well done.

Mission complete. UFO sold to The Commonwealth of Oceania, 13725 credits.

Edit: ChemBro was promoted to Lance-Corporal after that mission (Mind 36). Congratulations!

No, everybody starts as 'Rifleman'. 'Newbie' I just used for 'no mission yet'. Sorry if this was confusing.
