Map Editor Start Fail
« on: May 15, 2012, 04:59:53 pm »
I'm running WinXP and the map editor loads about 8k RAM and gets stuck in permanent 99% cpu load without ever showing on screen.  The only problem I have in the main game is not being able to use the Geoscape view with lights.  I'm using 2.4 right now.  The Radiant 1.6 works, except it gives the message that it can't load "ufos/entities.ufo".
Also, in the console:
ToolbarCreator: Failed to lookup command ToggleShowModelBoundingBox
ToolbarCreator: Failed to lookup command ToggleShowModelNormals

The mapeditor coming with the windows installer of 2.4 is buggy. You can download a working one on the download page.

I  am not sure if I understand you right, because you say the Radiant 1.6 works. UFORadiant 1.6 is the mapeditor. About the message it would need some more information to answer this. Best would be the radiant.log, which is in \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\radiant\.

The Radiant program in the download section works.  The one installed with 2.4 does not.

The log shows a failure to load some other stuff as well.
From my xml: <enginePath value="D:/UFOAI-2.4"/>

There is nothing obvioulsly wrong in the log.

Did you extract the .pk3 files? What happens if you load a map?

First steps with UFORadiant are described here.
