2.3.1 saves in 2.4?

First post and it's a begging letter - sorry folks!

The downloads page seems to suggest that I can use my 2.3.1 saved campaign with the 2.4 release. However, when I install 2.4 (in the same directory), it says the save is there, but doesn't load it. I copied over the save, since the files in the save directory looked to be more recent (yes, I backed the old one up), and it still didn't load...

Is it possible to use 2.3.1 saves in  2.4? I have a pretty good, advanced campaign saved, and I'd hate to lose Rolf Harris as a 90%+ shot with a Grenade Launcher... 8)

Sorry but 2.4 isnt compatible with 2.3.X savegames.

You've got the suggestion wrong. It suggested to start playing 2.4 instead of 2.3.1. I make the text a bit more clear.

As the 3-round-burst-mode was removed from the grenade launcher anyway in 2.5-dev, maybe he just decided it is time to retire ?
