Problems with tutorial - roof resizing
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:06:20 pm »
Hello guys!

I'm trying to follow the tutorial for maping (lesson 1 - building a shed). When I try to resize the roof (after changing the cube the editor creates into a cone) the shape resizes. Tutorial tells me to resize it to fit into the 128x128 square again, but creating the cone and rotating made the size have some small decimal parts (in example - it keeps resizing to 128,31 but never to 128).

How do I resize an item that has 128,31 length to one that has 128,00 length?

Update - I played around as I was still trying to figure it out. The problem "solved itself" in regards to length and width (dunno what happened), but now I cannot place the roof on the shed as the z axis has the same problem (can never put it on z=64, since I end up with either 63,73 or 64,73).

Help me out please - I'm realy enjoying the tool, but my noobness is starting to be realy frustrating.

Cheers,
Thomas

PS - sorry for my english. It's not my native language

Using  csg-, clipper- and other tools sometimes results in vertices beeing 'out of grid'. Setting grid to 1 (or whatever size needed) and pressing <Ctrl+G> ("snap to grid") should solve this.

If you have further questions, look into the ufo-irc-channel. You can get quick help there most of the time from H-Hour or MCR (or me).

Good luck.

Edit : btw forgot to mention it. Always use the latest version of the game and radiant (comming with 2.4dev).
