Do you applied the patches in the right order ...
Ill build a new full installer before Christmas to keep it simple again.

3) run the update utility
4) start the game

Muton, I did the first 1-5 steps - only thing from old install was the savegames, but even if I remove them - it still doesn't run with the same error message. I will try the hard way now.

For future reference, will all we need to do is run the update utility to get any current builds or will we have to run a download like from steps 1-3 then run the updater? I assume it'll be the former not the latter.

muton, where do I get the official installer (I assume it should be version 2.4?) official nightly runs, but can't be updated with your patches...

The update utility can only upgrade installation revision after 1314405047 (2011.08.27)
and only if i can determine the current revision installed.
The official installer does not add the revision level
its not possible to use the updater in that case.

Thats the reason why you need to switch to my binaries before running the update utility

In the future youll download my full installer
install and use the update utility
