When you report a bug please provide us with the following information, because otherwise it's often impossible to quickly check what is going on.
Version

    Where did you download the version of the game and what version(-number) is it. Please be as verbose as possible here.

I downloaded it from the "Snapshots" folder.  Its version number is "2.4-dev".

System

    What operating system do you run UFO:AI on?

Mac OS 10.6.7


    What computer and graphics card do you have? (graphic driver version if you know)

This is especially useful for everything from graphics bugs, setup problems, performance issues, os dependent errors, etc...
What happened before the bug occurred? Is the bug reproducible?

1.  I tried starting it; it opened, and the music played as the progress bar filled, but once it filled it just hung there with the music playing.

2.  I created a config.cfg file in Documents/UFOAI/whatever.  (in the "base" folder with the console log) containing that intro-skipping code:

set cl_introshown "1" a

This time, it moved past the loading screen, and everything seemed great until I hit Single Player - Skirmish and picked some Africa map.  It started to load and then crashed.  I tried again with the Bunker map; same result.

I tried again with the single player campaign.  This time, it displayed the intro (world map with green text) ... the intro was quite slow and clunky, but I was able to click through it.  Then it finished and promptly crashed (right after the crossed-spears logo).

3.  I tried again, this time going with a "skirmish" on the "transport" map.  It loaded...but immediately dissolved into garbled images.

4.  I tried campaign again; once again it crashed after the spears.

5.  I tried campaign again; same result.



The bug itself is often just a symptom of things that happened right before (or often even a long time ago).

Some things to check:

    The first thing we ask you is to check if you can reproduce the bug. The simpler the reproduction-steps are, the better.
    Does the bug also happen when starting a new game or only after loading a saved game (most likely a bug in the load/save system)
    Please attach the output console file ufoconsole.log. If possible when running the game with ufo +set developer 1 (see cvar for more). See FAQ to get the path were this file is stored on your harddisk.
