Try looking at this post for 2.4-Dev compiled a few weeks ago.

Error

Can't find D:\program files\UFOAI\UFOAIwin32BUILDenv\MinGW\bin\git.exe

this is when I point the that GUI you linked to the minGW folder... so do i just place the git.exe in there?

I dunno... lets try... the text/direction box on the right says "I'll try to get the source" and its turned red and black and green and

'Remember I'm typing this as the journey unfolds'

lots of words and its bright green...

more words  compressing objects 79%...

receiving 12%....

seems to be working...

still 12% going to walk the dog. To be continued...

15 or 20 minuets later 13

I really hope this works...

15% and its salmon colored is that normal?

Be back when its 100% probable with more problems, but lets hope not. :)

First time out you need to point the gui at the relevant programs.
When you run it for the first time it needs to download the source which is several GB so it takes a LONG time (~1 hour on my connection).  In future it will only download the updates to the source so it will be much faster.  And yes, the window changes colour throughout the process flickering away the whole time - I think Muton wanted to try and trigger an epileptic fit in someone !  ;D

There's a full walkthrough to guide you that was linked in the first post from the script thread.

Godmonkey:
Yea copy/past the git.exe does not work... haha! *FACEPALM* Now that I'm not tired and you sent me that guide I'll get to reading.

Thanks again Kemlo, for your help.

Edi:
Just how many GB is the source at its current?

Because at the great speed of 18 to 100 kBps, it's going to take a goddamn long time to download...

Kemlo:
It's around 4.5 GB.

Edi:
Crap.

Only 10% done so I'll need to leave the computer running all night and the next day too and hope my WLAN doesn't crap out. I used to have the SVN build environment, but when they switched to git, I dropped off. I recently got my interest rekindled, so I figured I should give it a spin, but the initial source download is a pain in the arse.

It's more of a limitation on the server side, since my internet connection is 40 Mbps but I'm only pulling etween 40 and 100 kilobytes per second down.

While we're at it, was it a design decision to boost the initial stats of the soldiers? Right now my starting crews look like supersoldiers from the 2.3 (when you sometimes got people with all stats in the low to high 30s and some high 20s maybe mixed in. Perhaps 2% of the recruits were like that. Now they all are.
