Stuck, trying to play 2.4
Godmonkey:
Because 2.3 has ample bugs and I figured maybe I can help by playing on 2.4 SVN
But I'm completely lost... well not lost, I know were I'm stuck.
--- Quote ---Easy Way
If you want only last master head as most peoples do, then after installing msysGit first you need open it's shotcut 'Git Bash' and type this:
- git init ufoai
- cd ufoai
- git remote add -t master origin git://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/ufoai/ufoai
- git fetch --depth 1
- git checkout -t origin/master
Done,

I am here...
--- Quote ---now you can use TortoiseGIT for more easy management of all downloaded stuff. Instead you can use Git Clone -> depth 1 and it will download around 32000~ objects, but first way is better.
--- End quote ---
Any how-tos for using "TortoiseGIT"? I used SVNs for ultima before but this GIT has me confused...
Thanks in advance.

Kemlo:
Honestly, no idea but may I recommend this tool. It makes downloading the source and compiling it almost idiot-proof. (Thanks Muton!).
Godmonkey:
Well even that has me stumped... I'll F... I mean Mess with it for a bit but I'm close to giving up.
Kemlo:
In that case why not try one of the 2.4 builds that Muton has put up over here.
Godmonkey:
Thanks Kemlo, but the last post with for a pre-compiled copy is "UFOAI_2-3-Dev_r18915.zip" thats 2.3 from 2008... (am I translating that right?)
Come with me while I figure this out...
Error
Can't find D:\program files\UFOAI\UFOAIwin32BUILDenv\MinGW\bin\git.exe
this is when I point the that GUI you linked to the minGW folder... so do i just place the git.exe in there?
I dunno... lets try... the text/direction box on the right says "I'll try to get the source" and its turned red and black and green and
'Remember I'm typing this as the journey unfolds'
lots of words and its bright green...
more words compressing objects 79%...
receiving 12%....
seems to be working...
still 12% going to walk the dog. To be continued...
15 or 20 minuets later 13
I really hope this works...
15% and its salmon colored is that normal?
Be back when its 100% probable with more problems, but lets hope not. :)
