Game status?

How far would you guys say is the project?

Because I download an earlier release (about May) and well, it didn't really seem like a game yet.  Research didn't work (or I couldn't get it to work). Interception didn't work etc.

So before i commit myself to downloading 160+mb, I'd like to know how far it is for being a game.  I don't mind testing, and debugging a game (though I generally prefer to give suggestions), but I would like to be able to play a game from start to finish.

UFO:AI has improved a lot since RC3, but is far from 'finished'.

Ground-missions (the main point of the game) work very well.
Todo: more models+animations, more maps, AI-tweaks, etc.

Hiring / research / production work now, but not finished,
and need balancing...

Not done yet: interceptions + aircombat

There is no spectacular ending yet - you just get told you have 'won' :)

Ok, I'll wait for RC5 then... but I'll keep visiting.  I have a keen interest in this project.

Even with RC5 it won't be a full 'game' yet. There is much work to be done. Not only does the program have to undergo some serious development, there also needs to be more content. Winter and I are working on the story and the UFOpaedia, but there won't be anything of it ingame until version 2.1, and even then there will be only the first part.

Don't expect the 'game' to be done soon (if ever - these projects tend to keep on evolving even after it's 'done').

Well, RC-5 sounds like an investment in my time, and I'll be glad to give a helping hand wherever I can.
